This is indeed art. As to photography is also an art. But I give Much more credit on this guy than i could give myself as a photographer. Having a human to pose for you and and create an angle that best describes the character at full beauty is hard enough to take pictures let alone draw or paint. For those who can not appreciate the guys works please just don't say anything bad. I believe he put his whole heart into creating those portraits and that i believe is the most basic character of art.

I wonder if those of you who are calling this guy out and saying it isn't art, have actually attempted drawing like this? It takes an incredible amount of skill and perserverance to achieve results like this, let alone photo-realistic results. It may not be creative, but it is certainly an artwork in my view.

Do not forget that art is subjective. You may all think this isn't art because it is copying something, but then again I don't see lines and circles on a canvas being sold for thousands of dollars as being art either.

There is an art to being able to replicate, record and translate something real onto a piece of paper or onto a canvas. You are all so used to cameras that you have forgotten this and take it for granted. Just remember that drawings and paintings were the only ways in which one could record a scene many years ago.

Realism was about 'the naked truth.' It was not just depicting something as perfect or (in case of these drawings) as glamorous as possible. It was a reaction on the romantic area which was bombastic and highly emotional. The realists searched for clarity and truth. They often tried to depict how there world, there society really was. Not filled with kings and huge landscapes and dramatic mythological tales.
These drawings here, are not realism. They are hardly realistic. But he or she does have a very nice etching technique. I am jealous of that.

i must agree also. While none of us can argue the SKILL that these artists have - i think such skill could be better applied at other techniques - rather then carbon copying. Neat? yes! Amazing talent? yes!! Creative? NOPE!
