Since 1973 Minsk has been hosting the International Beauty Contest Miss Intercontinental. The goal is to find the purist beauty in all the land. It’s less of a pageant and more of an intense audition. Photographer Anton Motolko goes behind the scenes to catch a glimpse into the moments that could change one girl’s life forever. I love (sarcastic) how almost all the girls in the pageant represent a similar kind of beauty..skinny, light-skinned, etc. There are many girls who don’t fit this description in Russian (me being from there) and I’m pretty attractive if I do say so myself. I hate it when I say I’m Russian and people don’t believe me because I have dark hair, darker skin, and green eyes with curves (too “exotic” to be the leggy skinny blonde stereotyped Russian girl). There are different types of girls that have different types of beauty. Please represent a better variety!
