I am simply visiting various websites to glean I deas for a home that I will build in the mountains of Eastern Ky. It will be a house that is self-sufficient to a large extent. I particularly like the entrance of this home, but not all of the concrete…… Different strokes,for different folk's… Right??

I got a friend with a house that's half underground. Never had any problems with water seepage, and it's thermally stable. He can keep the place at 65 degrees F and his heating/cooling costs are about a quarter of mine.

I agree, too gray. As far as water, big deal it’s called a sump pump, they’ve been around for years.

The house is pretty interesting. Nothing that I would ever live in, but something to look at. The only thing that killed it was the surrounding homes. At first, I just assumed they had a lot of property and there weren’t homes around it. Also, I’m sure the architects had added proper draining when they designed the house……unless they missed that day of architect school.
