Chivers, Haiti needs your help (25 Graphic Photos)

chive haiti lead Chivers, Haiti needs your help (25 Graphic Photos)

*Excuse the rare sobering post from us, ya’ll, but this is important:
Tuesday, January 12 at noon the worst earthquake in 200 years – 7.0 in magnitude – struck less than ten miles from the Caribbean city of Port-au-Prince, Hait, the poorest country in the Caribbean. Right now 50,000 people are confirmed dead and 3 million homeless. Our government, in tandem with countries around the globe are uniting for what President Obama has called, “One of the largest relief efforts in our recent history”.

Haiti desperately needs our help. The American Red Cross has devised an amazing plan called mGive. Just text ‘Haiti’ to 90999 and you will automatically donate $10 to the relief effort. (If you receive texts back from them simply text back ‘Stop’). For direct donations, I’ve found that The Clinton Foundation’s website makes it the easiest to donate.
We’ve all had a rough year, trust me. But this is America and when catastrophes occur, the world turns to us for support. Do what you can. Every little bit makes a big difference. Thanks for your time and your generosity.
Thanks to Boston Big Picture Blog for these photos. We never borrow from this site but I think they’ll make an exception in this case.

When I woke up today I spilled coffee on my shirt. While I was busy cursing because my new t-shirt, and subsequently my life, was ruined, I remembered how lucky we all really are. Give what you can. (btw it was an awesome t-shirt with a cartoon apple flipping the bird)

I made donations to both Doctors Without Borders and Partners In Health. Both organizations have been doing a LOT to help Haitians prior to the earthquake, and they need our help now. Both sites were easy to navigate and make donations to, as well.

  13. Jon says:

Just sent $50 to doctors without borders.

  14. gozer says:

    • Fenor Mexican says:

wtf… i hope u gonna die in a disaster, u dont have an idea about the hurt what that people are passing… the persons like u are the shit of the world, we can life better without you…

Here in Mexico, we are making campaings to send food, clothes, people who can help… a few days a “Hercules airplane” from the mexican army flought to Haiti with 15 tons of food, emergency equipment, water, etc.
Mexican goverment sned too: 4 rescue airplanes, 20 search experts, medics, trained dogs, and 8 million dollars…

And alot of people continues sending settings to the cellection centers of the UN, Mexico´s Army, Human Rights Commission (Mexico)…. this people need our help, we can do in our homes, and tell us how we may make donations in cash or things they need, like food, water, diapers, clothing, etc..
can we keep seeing on tv and suffer … or we can provide even a little, but that little is much for them right now …

  20. Jordo says:

Haiti is one of the most currupt contrys in the world. Half that money you sent will not go to the people who need it. Just saying. (yes my spelling sux get over it)

    • WilliamMunny says:

Well then lets hope the other half does.

Or shall we all just do nothing and stand around with our di&ks in our hands instead?

  21. winston says:

“Yo Haiti, I’m really happy for you, i’ma let you finish, but Katrina is one of the best poverty stricken disasters of all time. Of all time.”

  22. Ichirei says:

I feel terrible for saying this, but in a way this can be really good for Haiti. Prior to the earthquake, building codes were nonexistant and Haiti itself was a run down slum and one of the poorest places in the world. Now with all of the attention and help that the world is giving to Haiti (something it needed a long time ago), hopefully order can be restored and humanity can just be a little bit less self-important and pessimistic for just a little bit

Fuck that place, I hope it gets hit again while being “rescued”

  25. Mindy says:

I’m really bumbed by this news and want to do my part in helping. It looks like lots of people are getting involved but more are definitely needed.
