The world should be thankful, when we are blessed with souls like Bob. As one other person commented, just like Jesus Christ was treated the same, misunderstood, the people did not listen to the wisdom they epoused. It is true, that he who has eyes will see, he who has ears will hear. It has been thirty years since Marley came on the world scene, as a musician, with wisdom from God, spreading to the people. Just listen to his words, if you can hear, and look in his living and you will see. Long live me brethren Bob Marley, and his seeds. Jah Bless.

.While on tour in France in May of 1977, Marley re-injured a right toe during a soccer game. The injury refused to heal and instead quickly worsened — the entire nail came off and doctors recommended amputation. Citing religious beliefs, a limping Marley refused the surgery and gamely continued on tour. Later that summer, Marley finally allowed an orthopedic surgeon to perform a skin graft on the toe, and the procedure was deemed “a success.”

In September of 1980, a weakened Marley almost fainted onstage while performing in New York. The next day, he collapsed while jogging in Central Park. Marley was diagnosed with a brain tumor (a result of the untreated cancer in his toe) and given less than a month to live. Despite the grim news, Marley played one final show in Pittsburgh before being flown to Miami. There doctors verified that the singer had cancer in the brain, lung, and stomach. Eight months later, Marley passed away.

I agree. I don’t think I would have believed in his politics or ideals had I been an adult before he died but, then again, understanding Jamaican politics is practically impossible for an outsider. Great music, beautiful country, but a self-serving government that keeps the people dirt poor. A very large part of the population is a bunch of grifters trying to separate you from your money because of this. I’ve been twice and I have no desire to ever set foot there again. I always felt like there was something about to go down.

No Woman, No Cry; Jammin’; and Every Little Thing is Gonna Be Alright were 3 of his best and I can listen to them over and over.
