*pushes up glasses* If Sokka isn’t hilarious, and Toph isn’t as sardonically snarky, and Uncle Iroh isn’t wise and hilarious, I’ll just kill M. Night. It’s bad enough that the characters look nothing like their fictional, paper counterparts, but I didn’t see a shred of Appa or blue tattoos. /nerdrant
I like the tattoo’s like that, actually. They look more mystic, very pretty, not just a simple blue arrow, but an intricate pattern forming an arrow.
However, as for the rest, yes the movie is already a massive casting disaster. Why is Iroh not fat? Why is Zuko Indian, Fire Nation society is based on China. Why are Sokka and Katara white kids, the Water Tribes are basically Inuit. And yes, where is Appa, and more important, where is Momo?
And Aang looks waaaay too serious. One of the main plot elements is how Aang is, at heart, still a young kid who likes to ride his air scooter and throw pies in people’s faces and now he has to deal with this huge responsibility. I’m not seeing any happy screwing around in that trailer.
The effects look awesome though, especially water and earth bending. I’ll probably watch it, but I’m not sure this live-action adaptation will do the brilliant cartoon proper justice.

We must marry. Restraining order or not.
