Etch-A-Sketch turns 50 (17 Photos)

  • robsterling

For anyone to be able to do this is just
incredibly amazing. Anyone who has ever used an etch-a-sketch
realizes the difficulty of doing even the most basic pictures or
scenes, let alone actual art or recreations.
Totally unbelievable that anyone can do this.

But true artists find a way,
it may take months or even years but opportunities present
    themselves, skills are learned,
confidence is gained and everything comes together. Einstein
    himself, pictured in #2, would
even be amazed at the amazing creative
    skills these artists have displayed.

Because when it is seen, bricks will be shat.

    • noname

#4 is Andy Warhol, not Stephen Hawking.

    • noname

      What about Stephen Hawking?
"True artists find a way?" Hippy.

      • robsterling

You still don't see it, do you?

        • noname

          Because it's not him.

          • robsterling

I agree, but see my responses in the messages below.

    • Suzannes1974

I shat bricks, all three times so far. Am I the only one?

      • robsterling

        Received the message
        On this board
        Concerning my previous post. Your
        Knowledge is impressive.

        • Nameless

Well played, you sneaky bastard. lol

Amazing, I can't even imagine how they did that, I can't even draw a circle with it.

    • Zoey

I agree; I never had the patience, nor the artistic capability to draw anything with these, but still found them facinating.
And I could barely draw a SQUARE!

      • gunnersaurus

its ok, im sure u make up for your lack of etch-a-sketch abilities in other ways lol

  • AnyoneForCoffee

    I'm calling shenanigans on 8.

  • AnyoneForCoffee

Why am I being moderated on this page? What in the name of Jahozafat is going on?

  • AnyoneForCoffee

    8 = Shenanigans

  • AnyoneForCoffee

    'Shenanigans' is a banned word??

  • gozer

sure, these are good and all, but y'all clearly have not seen MY work.

    I call them "Quadrilaterals".

  • Suzannes1974

#8 is impossible isn't it? How do you draw the three eggs without a line connecting any of them? I call B/S.

    • AnyoneForCoffee

Exactly what my moderated posts were trying to say.

Apparently […] is a moderated word.

      Wait. […]

      Are you fudging serious?!

  • top dog

Damn, the only thing I could with mine was draw a straight line….and that wasn't all that good. Whoever did this is good…..real good.

  • robsterling

    No name,
Regarding my initial post and your subsequent replies:

I agree with you that it is Andy Warhol.
    Do not doubt that
    In picture #4 is the
    One and only
Truly gifted late pop-artist Andy Warhol.

    Open your eyes.
Under normal conditions even the blindest of
    Church mice could
    Easily see what is actually
    Being said
    About this and the original
    Group of photos.

    For Heaven’s Sake,
All of us hope and pray
Intensely that you are able to process these messages
    Like an intelligent person

    Maybe, just maybe
One of your friends can explain it to you.
Run, don’t walk, to the nearest smart person
Or someone who looks smart or
Nerdy and ask them to define “Acrostic.”

    • P Diddily

      • P Diddily

        Damn, so did I. LOL

        • robsterling

          Fail. No acrostic for you!

          Stop smoking weed!

          • P Diddily

HAHA, no way to edit posts. I saw it as soon as I hit submit. You win this round, Sterling.

  • robsterling

    You still don’t see it.
Oh, how I wish you could
    Understand the nuisances of
    Rhythmic writing and syntax.

    Maybe one day you will
    Open your mind
    To the possibility of
    Higher thought and consciousness
    Elevating the way you
read things so that you see more than words.

I hope that day will come.
    Sooner, rather than later.

A wish from me to you.

    When that day arrives,
    Happy times will ensue
Over the land of the Chive and great
Revelry will be had by all.
    Especially me.

    • Northman

      • robsterling

        Truly you are someone who
        Holds the
Art of writing as sacred as the Egyptians regarded the
Nile. You have the gift which is the
        Key to enlightenment.

        You figured it
Out so you are wise. Or someone explained it so you could
        Understand it.

    • will

nice, but its not that complicated…and no, my mother is not a whore.

      • robsterling

I did not refer to your dear mother in such a derogatory nature. I was speaking to someone with "noname."

        Have a wonderful day!

        • noname

I was reveling in the fact somebody who is obviously labouring under the erroneous impression that they are witty and intellegent could't see what was in front of their eyes.

You sir, are a cum guzzling sperm burper.

    • HellHathNoFury

And your father smells of elderberries

  • Michael Heiney

The Etch a Scetch exhibit is at The Children's Museum in Indianapolis until Aug 1st. Most of the artwork shown above is on display there.

  • asleepnow

how the heck did he make those eggs? 0_0 That's nuts

    • Yolk

I know! This is really an eggsquisite drawing

    • HellHathNoFury

      He made them with LIES

  • Davee

The eggs are easy – the line 'connecting them' goes to the top of the screen. If you go over it again exactly, it vanishes. (you can still see them faintly)

  • Sarah

Wow – some people are crazy talented & must have the patience of a saint or something
kinda makes me want to run out buy my kids an etchasketch and then hog it to see if I can draw something simple like a house

Agree – the eggs on #8 don't seem plausable, can't ever recall that going back over your line 'erased it' if it does then fair play…

  • P Diddily

That would suck if you just got done one of these masterpieces and one of your damn wiener kids came in and shook it up.

  • Jonathan

I believe these are done with computers controlling the knobs.

  • BigDave

What a Wonderful Completely Useless Talent
    And Oh Yea 18th!!!!!!!!

  • HellHathNoFury

    *prays for an earthquake*

  • genetic testin
