Buddhist monks from Thailand’s Sisaket province collected a million bottles to build the Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew temple. Why?? It has something to do with the Heineken Beer company changing its bottle years ago into working as a useful building block. Don’t ask, I don’t know.

incredible
99 bottles of beer on the wall…
Perhaps that should be '99 bottles of beer IN the wall'
It's actually kind of pretty.
1)Pick a rock
2)Throw rock at temple
3)Make shaolin monk angry
4)????
5)Profit
They are Theravada monks, very different than shaolin.
"You’re never gonna believe what this temple is made of". I can believe that. I might have become desensitized from all the other "youre never gonna believe" posts theChive has done but i was expecting something comepletely unbelievable like pubes or bacon
my first thought was Cheech and Chong's "Up In Smoke"…
was hoping for a true "hash house"
That was my first thought. . .
….. the miracle of beer continues
Go to Knotts Berry Farm and you can see/touch the exact same thing but even older than this one. Not impressed.
Those Monks love their beer…
I know it was a joke but just so you know Theravada monks aren't allowed to drink anything but water, they only eat one meal a day that is given to them by lay people, they are not allowed any possessions, obviously no sexual conduct, and no form of entertainment is allowed. Most theravada buddhists like me, only are monks for a short period, for a few weeks or months, very few are lifetime monks.
Hehehee – and here was me wondering how wasted those monks and locals must've gotten to get enough to build that temple, then I read that they were given them…
LOL
This is beautiful. I bet that when the sun shines the whole thing just sparkles. I want a beer house. Very cool.
One big hail storm and that place is toast.

those monks are probably buzzed in the photo.
