Wow..
I was wondering why some were cheaper than others and then realized you were adding them all up. That is just disgusting. And here I am struggling with a couple hundred dollars here and there.

Just think, they lost $100,000,000.00 USD from one leaking well. This doesn't count any of the other drilling sites they have in the gulf or anywhere else in the world. Just try to wrap your brain around exactly how much money the oil companies make every single day.
While we're on the topic, State Farm has been pushing that they have 40 million customers. At $100 per month on average, that would mean they are bringing in $4 billion a month in insurance payments. Insane how far apart the top and the bottom of the economy are, isn't it?
$100/month on average?!? What insurance do YOU have? The replacement organs plan?
Anyway, they may be 'bringing in' billions a month. How much are they sending out? How big are their costs?
State farm insures not just health, but businesses, farms, vehicles, renters, homeowners, etc.
Some businesses can pay thousands in insurance costs each month alone.
Mffpphple? The wife and I have had one accident each in the last 7 years and we live in Southeast Florida and we pay two hundred and change a month for the bare minimum auto insurance. And a lot more than that for our health coverage. OTOH the homeowner's probably isn't too bad since we're not on a flood plain. The flood insurance is a separate policy anyway, sigh.
I don't understand why BP is taking the blame for this when they didn't own or even run the rig.
They, or whoever was responsible for running the day to day operations of the rig have been proved (at least according to the media stories) to have cut corners, turned off safety devices/sirens, etc., that led to the failure…they bleeped up, big time…wish it weren't so…
If the last picture is right, then they could have even paid Dr. Evil's ransom money.

the two american companies admited that there was safety cutting but the money coming in made them decide it was worth it greed outwieghs safety
