Inspiring conjoined twins get a normal life (14 Photos)

A few years ago, Macey and Mackenzie were thrust into the national spotlight right before their surgery to separate them. The twins were bound at the pelvis and sharing a third leg. The marathon 24-hour surgery was successful and the girls recovered well. Now Macey and Mackenzie lead normal(ish) lives riding horses and 4 wheeling in Indianola, Iowa.

herp derp. I enjoy applying internet memes to actual, meaningful lives. People will think I'm funny.

Hold the F*ck on!!!! I didn't mean it in an offensive way towards the kids I'm happy for them. Also I am proud of the doctors that made this possible. I am in the medical field and I was trying to express the craziness the complexity of DNA can be. Now I apologized can I have a cookie.

Oatmeal, so we can see the disappointment when you think it's chocolate chip and bite into it….

How lucky do all of us feel now?

    • Cristi Palincas

I certainly feel lucky that my parents were different enough genetically that I don't look exactly like all my other siblings.

      • HellHath NoFury

That wouldn't be the case if you were a fraternal twin, no matter how different your parents are, if you shared a single egg with your sibling. Please do some reading.

      • Lisa Martin

Cristi…all due respect…if you don't look at least 50% similar to your siblings…chances are good…that…well…um…did your Mom have any close friends…um…do ya call them your "Uncle" but they aren't really a blood relation that coulda…awww hell…I can't do it. Someone tell her what I mean…

        • HellHath NoFury

          I love you, Lisa.

  • ASShole

I'm an asshole; I'm a parent; so this made me cry a bit.

This is quite awesome. They remind me of my 2 year old niece; always outdoors, somewhere in the country. You'll never see a bigger smile.

  • HellHath NoFury

I just love that they're always busy, always happy, and that their siblings treat them well and help them along when they need it. *sneef

    right on

  • thetech2

to all the people who just had to try and be funny about this you suck it is very touching ,you are very lucky for what you have treat it well because in a blink it can be gone

  • bob

could be god's way of saying…. slow down a little…. they have 7 kids under the age of 6 years old… geeez

    • HellHath NoFury

They obviously own their own home, their children are well-dressed, clean and well-disciplined, not a spoiled brat amongst them. That's more than anyone can say about most people with one child.

Bob…if this is the same family I saw in the news a while ago, and looking at the pictures, I believe it is…the twins who were conjoined and their triplet sister, were adopted. The birth parents couldn't handle it and put them in foster care. The foster family wanted them. It's a truly blessed situation. 😉

    • Amber Hunter

BOB you should check your facts because they were adopted by there foster parents which explains all of the kids. Even if it didn't its non of your business. I myself am the foster mother of 3 under the age of 2 and have no biological kids of my own. I have a friend that have adopted 19 kids and is still currently fostering. One of my kids kids is disabled, I hope you wouldn't say its because I need to slow down……YOU'RE WAY OUT OF LINE.
