How does he do this? It's strange to think that he actually paints them prior to the photo. Does he shop it post-photo? I am amazed either way.

What is the theme here? That people are vanishing where he lives? That humans seem to be transparent to others? The soldier holding him and then the wall poster holding a gun to his head made me think that way i suppose

I had to write an essay about his work. He hires an artist to paint the background onto him; a process that takes several hours. His work has a political message, that individuality is fading in China. The photographs are awesome in person.
