i will stop your firsts
the guy above me is just as bad as the people who comment "FIRST" -_-
I remember this commercial as a kid. Before the internet, we actually had to use books for research.
Yes, I remember this, and the Dienetics commercial played every day during Voltron/Transformers hour.
im going to marry that guy
he's probably in his 50's now..
He's thirty-nine. He might not be quite so cute but you know he's going to be nerdy-smart and funny as frick. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/LPD5gzk-270/0.jpg
The nostalgic factor is definitely there for those of us that were not born in the 90's and remember this.
The so called greenhouse effect!! Gold!
Stan Freberg is a radio/audio comedian from roughly the beginning of Time Itself; his voice is readily recognizable by any member of my parents' generation (that would be people in their 70s give or take) who listened to radio or enjoyed the cartoons they showed in the theaters in the 50s and 60s. He created an album for example called "Stan Freberg's America" which is pretty darn funny. The blonde kid here is his son Donavan who naturally is also in the creative comedy biz, apparently a little further in the background than ol' Dad. I was wary of encyclopedia salespeople even when **I** was a kid; I was like hmm, what happens when something new goes down? We actually had encyclopedias in the house but they were frozen in time at like 1954. And look at that computer!!
"The so-called greenhouse effect." @1:30, LOL
Sad part is I remember when this commercial was on TV(1992). You young-uns and your interwebs have it easy. We had to use those huge books.
And, just to make sure I sound like an old man – "We had to walk uphill(both ways) in 2 feet of snow just to get to the library."
i remember books .. i still read them ….
I will proudly say that I am glad that I was educated before the internet age!!! When I was in college the big thing was Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 was suppose to change the world…
I remember this, but I don't remember the kid being do "nerdy" though.
especially the "so-called greenhouse effect"
ahhh the printed word to that we owe our lives well that and midnight taco scoops love the computer in the background
there was nothing funny about that at all. That commercial was annoying in the 90's and even more annoying today. thechive is really going downhill.
i gotta give the nerdy guy props….he is wearing one of the best pairs of Jordans that were ever made!!!!
Nice Guess jeans.
Fuckin' encyclopedias…how do they work?
love the prepubescent voice
That was funny? Surely it was as banal and stupid as all adverts. OK, so the reference to ‘The so called greenhouse effect’ was classic US stupidity and as such was quite amusing. Hardly worth viewing really though.
Stupid caveman and his books
I've had this commercial on VHS for a loooooooooooong time.
