Most of you have probably heard of In-N-Out Burger, the West Coast burger institution. The key to In-N-Out's success is the simplicity of their menu. Your choices are limited to a Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Double-Double, and French Fries. That's it... or so they would want you to believe.
In-N-Out actually has an extensive 'secret menu' which the locals order from frequently. The items don't appear on the menu but they do appear on the receipt, they're in the computer.
Here at theCHIVE we're huge fans of In-N-Out so we made trip to our local In-N-Out and attempted to order everything on the 'secret menu' (No, we were not paid to do this). Feel free to share the info with your friends because most of this stuff is pure bliss.

: ANIMAL STYLE : Perhaps the most famous secret item, it’s a mustard-cooked beef patty with additional pickles, cheese spread, and grilled onions all diced and mixed together on the grill before getting lopped on your burger.

: 4×4: Four burger patties and 4 slices of cheese. You can also order any combination of 2×4, 3×3, and 4×2.

: MUSTARD GRILLED: In-N-Out paints your burger with mustard before grilling it. If you like mustard, this is your guy.

: FLYING DUTCHMAN: Forget the lettuce, onion, even the bun. Two patties and two slices of cheese.

: CHEESEBURGER, PROTEIN STYLE: Wrap your burger in lettuce instead of that heavy carb bun

: CHEESEBURGER, EXTRA TOAST: In case you like your bun extra toasty

: GRILLED CHEESE: Everything you want minus the burger. This can even be ordered ‘Animal Style’

: VEGGIE BURGER: Like the grilled cheese without the cheese

: CHEESEBURGER W/ GRILLED ONIONS

: 20×20: In-N-Out no longer makes the 20×20 to order due to ‘quality issues’ but you can order 10 ‘Flying Dutchmen’ and a cheeseburger, then construct your own 20×20

: CHEESE FRIES/ANIMAL STYLE FRIES: All the goodness of an ‘Animal Style’ burger dumped on your fries

: CHIVE STYLE: Hot sauce is the ketchup of the Southwest. The only thing we’d add to the In-N-Out secret menu is the option to add Tapatio hot sauce to your burger. It’s the right thing to do

: EXTRA SPREAD/ HOT PEPPERS: In-N-Out’s ‘secret sauce’ bears a strong resemblence to thousand island with a few more bells and whistles.

: FRIES LIGHT/ FRIES DARK

: NEAPOLITAN SHAKE Choco, Vanilla, and Strawberry

: CHOCO-VANILLA SWIRL

Thanks to the entire staff at the In-N-Out in Culver City. The manager and head chef immediately accommodated us and made our entire order in less than 10 minutes without complaint (I would have hated us).

*Not pictured is the Root Beer Float. We waited a lil’ too long to photograph that and it looked like a congealed mess of floating crap. Sorry.

Putting my vote in that while In-n-Out is really good, its a close second to Whataburger. Thats right, Whataburger. I still love in-n-out though.

I've always thought In-N-Out's fries are awful. Then I tried them well done. OMG! WAY better!

You can also order your burger with CHILIS. They chop 'em up and lay 'em in. That way you can get a little kick and leave the Tapatio at home
