Ghosts of World War II (23 HQ photos)

Russian photographer Sergey Larenkov is an amateur photographer and vintage postcard collector who married his two passions into a very cool series of then-and-now photos with the help of our friend Photoshop. It really puts history into perspective and shows we've come a long way in a short amount of time.

Check out Sergey Larenkov’s website HERE for more cool photos.

Should be one of a Parisian waiter being rude to an Mid-Western American couple, with a Nazi in the background caving in the head of a French National with his jackboot.

Excellent .. don't care if it's been done before .. the work effort alone is to be appreciated .. then there's the artist's tough … a shame though .. to many Nazis not enough Allies .. but then that to lends to the impact of the work .. BRAVO .. hope to see more ..

Most of memories of Paris, Germany and Russia wre during the Nazi occupation. I aam sure it looks great now as can be seen. Amazing how so much can be blended with teh old and new.

Someday I would love to go to Europe and live there with people who still have an appreciation of what they have versus what they lost. We were lucky as Americans when we took it to them.

As a history buff, especially of WWII since I am what could be termed a "charter boomer" having been born in May of '46, I found it very interesting and the Photoshopping extremely well done. Yes, we've come a long way, in some respects, and not so much in others. Seems we've forgotten lessons learned over time. Which is why the saying, "history repeats itself", i. e, our parents, The Greatest Generation, and our Allies, fought against Socialism. In WWI also, for that matter. And now, as a society, many are welcoming it as a new wave of freshness and enlightenment. Barf. But that's another subject. Thanks, Chive, for the excellent post.

      You were fighting communism.
      Socialism isn't the same thing.

Socialism is that all should be taken care of. Do to others as you want others to do to you.
Practically, if Jesus was alive today – he would be a socialist.

I lived in Germany for 3 years. Ex-Husband was in the Army. There were some places that were just old…the air itself was old…the buildings…the whole world…was old. These pictures captured that feeling perfectly. Thank you.
