Did one better for my oldest 25 years ago … covered ceiling with star design wall paper (white stars on dark blue background) then put glow-in-the-stars on each of the white stars so that the ceiling was stars both day and night. Added a few planets to the walls as well …
Depends on the lady. My wife did something similar to this to her bedroom when she was young. It's not so much changing your own tastes to suit the ladies as it is finding the right lady.
I so wanted something like this when I was younger – never did get enough stars tho..
plus I wanted to be uber geeky and put them out in the consellation patterns, but in the days without internet and the only books with the maps in were ones the size of a sofa from the library I gave up…

Poke a hole in a chem-light, then shake it all over the place. You'll get the same effect, even if it doesn't last long. Don't ask me how I know this.
