#30 is St. Basil's Cathedral. It is dead in the middle of Moscow between Red Square and the Kremlin.
It was commissioned in the 1500's by Ivan the Great (or was it Ivan the Terrible?) Anyway, legend has it that old Ivan liked the place so much, he blinded the architect so it could not be reproduced anywhere else.

The reason people build the huge, impressive edifices, is because often there's nothing real going on inside, so they have to impress folks with the facade of religion. NO Spirit, what else can you offer but a beautiful building and lots of excitement in the form of rock concerts and feel-good preaching.

Biggest waste of money on the planet!

  • Boris

    They are all pointless

#31 and #32 are a church in Ethiopia…they believe the actual Ark of the Covenant is inside. Archeologically it is one of the 4 possible locations if it does still exist.

Why is it any of your business what type of structures are built? It's not your money. If you don't want to contribute, it's your call. If you don't like them in your neighborhood, contact the local zoning authority; or better yet buy all the land around you and YOU can do with it what YOU want…

it doesnt amaze me that some of these look like spaceships and/or your stereotypical "Evil villian" hideout so they can do dastardly deeds

Jesus (and various other omnipotent entities) would be proud of what youve done with the money…
