Modern desert home makes Mexico look a little less crappy (17 photos)

This is one of two identical houses built in Todos Santos, Mexico by famed architectural firm Gracia Studio.

  • @robinyatesph

someone has to be taking the piss saying these were architect designed!!!

    • Kris

      um.. what?

    • ssss9999

I do not understand this statement!

      • surefire

It means that someone must be joking that this house was designed by an architect. And I agree, seems pretty weak.

        • bud

          its boring

        • Dan

          it's called Bauhaus… learn2architecture

          • metalwest

Actually Bauhaus ideology preaches architecture as an adaptable container. There is nothing modifiable in this house… learn2wikipedia

            • Paul

Bauhaus were an English rock band formed in Northampton in 1978. The group consisted of Peter Murphy (vocals), Daniel Ash (guitar), Kevin Haskins (drums) and David J (bass). The band was originally Bauhaus 1919 before they dropped the numerical portion within a year of formation. With their dark and gloomy sound and image, Bauhaus are generally considered the first gothic rock group.

                Paul wins

                • Bill

looks like the start of a mexican trailer park with fancy pools

  • WinningChiver

#12 Built by immigrant American construction workers…

    • SWG Fan

Doing the work Mexicans won't do?

      • dub

        fucking illegals.

        • hMMMM

Guess a lot of people didn't get the joke…

          I'll aplaud you, though.

  • Roscoe

    • hMMMM

How do you keep the sand out of the pool? I agree. Meh.

  • Alfred Casinas Jr

.. but would anyone really like to live there?

    • Look At My House

this is for people to say "come look at my house. god not I don't live here but look how cool it is"

    • Morgan Freeman

Its not that bad, looks ok for a middle class family or a single dude. and its close to a beach. some people like the desert too.

    • Choppers

Todos Santos home of big wave surfing!!

  • uberbrie

I usually love these posts but this one is not my cup of tea

  • Scott

    Still looks pretty crappy.

    • rdh014

Agreed…looks like a double-wide with a fancy wading pool in front.

  • uberbrie

I usually love these houses but this one kinda sucks…I'm just saying

    • AnyoneForCoffee

You mean, "I'm just saying *twice*"

  • Kris

Looks like a box made out of plywood. still pretty crappy.

    Thumbs down!

    This is more like it:

  • bbqboobs

#16 It seems really nice, minus the whole getting murdered part.

    • aleXTC

your not important enough to get murdered. even in mexico

      • Fred

No one is unimportant enough to not get murdered in Mexico.

        • cesar

ignorant mf's. the only reason you guys think mexico is dangerous is cause your stupid economy collapsed and the media is trying to take your attention away from your own problems. they're only trying to make you say "it aint that bad here" by comparison. things are not anymore dangerous than Anytown, TX. and that's only cause rednecks in the south sell guns to see the donkey show. again.

          • @elcocov

Eso es todo. Para que vean estos pinches gabachos que no salen de sus pueblos que su pais no es tan "bueno" como lo creen.

            • kaveman4130

              no speakey

          • justsaying

Ciudad Juárez is a warzone, but then again so is any major American city in the middle of a gang war.

  • sacker

  • Corpsman Steve

I wonder what the other house looks like.

    • Underhill

Ahhh, it's the other house in one of the pictures.

  • ss396maxx

  • Steve

Looks like a fancy double wide

  • lidalida

So… Anyone want to chip in and buy this mother?

  • Joben

the pool is nice but this house has the whole "someone could take a shit anywhere on the floor" kinda vibes if you ask me

  • GEED

how much does one of those cost? they look realitively low cost? pretty cool i guess

  • Dan

I bet the water bill is HUGE.

    • Omar Hernández Partes Grandes

Actually, water in mexico isn't that high priced… Gas, on the other hand…

  • Third Party

As a latino I must say that either there´s a huge fence around the place, armed guards 24/7 or it´s a house for people that really want to get in touch with the low-lives. Things aren´t so bad down here, but not enough to have a house open like that.

    • nogalito

seriously. I live in Nogales Sonora and its not as bad as everyone says it is.

      • ROK247

i live in wisconsin and i hear its pretty bad down there.

  • That Guy

almost makes it worth the risk of death or dismemberment by drug cartels… almost.

  • Daemon

#11 Anyone know where I can find the "sticks" to make this shade covering?

    • dajesus

Mexico. They have a shitload of sticks in Mexico.

  • V4vendetta14

I don't see anything "famed" about that design…despite the "famed architectural firm" taking credit. It looks like you could flat-bed it in and drop it next to the pool…

It would make for a pretty cool beach house…

  • Bob

This looks like a really cool vacation house, or an awesome place to ride out the apocalypse, or even a good place to hide from the cops, but I wouldn't want to live here.

  • GreyGhost9

#1 i would live there, but it might cost an arm and a leg 😉

  • miles

yea, la familia makes that a safehouse within the week.. 20 bucks.. any takers?

  • Jack Spectre

Aside from the pool, it looks like a Soviet fallout shelter.

    • Underhill

Or a Third Millennium variant on Frank Lloyd Wright.
