the japanese earthquake had 26,201 people dead or missing.

thats because nothing good has ever come from Africa.

Then why do they keep reproducing? I always wonder why a person that lives in a place without water, food or Dr's, would think it is a good idea to bring a child into the world. I guess uneducated and no cable only leaves sex as a hobby. I feel sorry for the children.

"African population grew from 221 million in 1950 to 1 billion in 2009" the 16,000 dead a day doesn't seem to be slowing them down…..
jesus christ
you cant compare, one was caused by a natural disaster and the other was caused by bad "parents"

Umm this is a little off on its facts: Death toll in Japan is 14,358 with around 11,889 unnacounted for. Not to mention the 130,000 displaced survivors. Not that I'm trying to say that the situation in Africa is deplorable, but trying to say that one tragedy is more tragic than another is fucking stupid. Both of them suck, both are terrifying.
Furthermore, the news decides what people hear and therefore what they talk about. The crap in Africa has been going one for a long LONG time, the Sendai Earthquake just occured and is the event that is affecting us the most RIGHT NOW. So, that's what most people are horrified/talking about. Just like now everyone has forgotten about the BP oil spill, people will soon forget about Sendai, and then move on to the next tragedy.
In short, fuck the news.

We do care. Are you suggesting Americans can cure or solve every problem on the planet? And if we don't, we don't care? What an asshead you are! Do you know how much money America alone gives to Africa? Both with our mandated tax dollars as well as our sympathetic personal checks?

For one, Africa is an entire continent… Also, the reason so many children in Africa are starving are because their parents are living in poverty and can't afford to raise as many children as they're having due to faulty contraceptives and the lack of sexual education, not to mention the AIDS & ebola viruses and cholera that plague the continent. Also notable is the fact that the average age in most African countries ranges between people in their teens and mid-twenties. These are problems that require decades of humanitarian work to even attempt to solve, as opposed to the situation in Japan, which is much easier to address immediately than the countless problems Africa is facing, especially now with all the civil unrest from protests and elections. It's not that nobody cares, it's that the immediate issue becomes the higher priority.
In other words, this picture is a piece shit.
That being said, I'm probably taking the time to dispute something that is a joke anyway.

This is stupid. I'm not sure what holier-than-thou simp put this out there, but it's really weak. Maybe this plays well around other self-righteous pseudo-intellectuals, but otherwise it can be shoved quite completely up yer corn hole. Don't tell me what "we" do and don't care about – and certainly don't attempt to wave the race card around anyone but yourself.
The simplest point of view is that the stuff in Japan was something new and there was video. Both of those things attract attention.
I heard about a family that got killed in a car wreck. Will I be judged for being sad about that, too? Will the ethnicity of that family make a difference??
