Joyland: Proof that all abandoned amusement parks are terrifying (34 Photos)

I used to stand in the long line waiting to get in on fun nite, with my grade card for free tickets.. They had a swimming pool out front, and we would watch the crazys jump from the 25 foot diving board!! We would get in and walk over the bridge, across the train tracks. Couldnt wait to run to the coaster, then across the rope bridge out back in the pic-nick area.. Then run to the go-karts, and then back to the rope bridge to cross the creek into the gun fight area. Watched many a gun fight there, bumper cars were fun, wacky shack one kid jumped out and couldnt get back on and got in trouble..Skee-ball you could win tickets and go to the prize booth, I always got candy..yea they tried to and did reopen but just wasnt happening.. they even stayed open till 2am.. Joyland skating rink/wooden floor.. I will post some more later…

Just west of oliver on harry, there was a miniture joyland called Kiddy land. Had a little roller coaster-horse rides- this one ride you got on and I think its was a little duck or something but you push and pulled the handle and that would make you go around the track. there was a drive-in next to it called meadowlark drive -in.. back to joyland, the game row was darts and ballons- machine gun and beebees, you had to shoot out the red star to win. there were others but cant remember, they had a pig face looking out from his house that would suck your trash from your hand. couldnt wait to finish my cotton candy so i could stick my paper cone up to his mouth…swisssssh and it was gone..big smile..yea the clown was creepy but that music…..i can still hear it.. more later…..

so, walking into joyland… hearing the train whistle, the clash of the tambourine from the organ playing clown-the train bell- the smell of popcorn-cotton candy the sounds of laughter… the bang of the big sledge hammer hitting the mark so the trolley would run up and hit the bell for a prize.they had a pin-ball room that had some of the oldest pin-ball machines Ive seen, so cool and so colorful. Grabbing your potato sack and run up the stairs, be out of wind when you got to the top..set on your sack and see whos next to you so you could start at the same time to race to the bottom.. I used to be able to ride a wheelie after going over the bumps… more later

The skating rink was fun, different from the joyland skating rink just north of 2nd st on west st… that was the skating rink close to me. It had a cement floor, the other one had a wood floor. also down the street from me was the sta-crisp potato chip factory, you would get a blue chip out of your bag of chips. They were good for free ride tickets at joyland also. Getting out of the car in the joyland parking lot, it was always fun to watch the coaster fly over the hills. with the kids screaming and of course hands in the air!! Rode a lot of coasters but joylands coaster, expecially the first drop…man……..more later

II did go there with some friends,at night with just our cells for light. It was so scary. There is no one, not even signs of any kind of some kind of homeless dwelling. Went through the wacky shack,the administative building still had important papers all over, the creepiest place i have ever been just went through the back part of it. Wanted to get the phuck out of there.definitely something that keeps people out! Would make a fantastic setting for a horror knowing first hand. Buy it make it a MEGA SPOOK HOUSE make your money back in one season!!!!!
