Would anyone like to explain the concept of senior photos to a non-American? What are they used for?

What a great question. To put it as succinctly as possible, this is probably the last time in many of these young peoples' lives that they will ever feel as special, as appreciated and as unique as they do in their senior year of high school. Short of marriage, childbirth or their funeral, this is IT. So a lot of 17 and 18 year olds go to great lengths to make their pictures stand out from the herd and encapsulate for all time who and what they were during this year. At first it was as simple as wearing a tuxedo shirt and jacket to look nice for their final yearbook. Now it's become this industry that surrounds these budding adults with attention, but for a price.

Aah, I see. In Norway we just celebrate our senior year with 18 days of non-stop drinking, where we try to accomplish as many things as possible from a list of 100 stupid/crazy things to do, like running naked down the main street of your hometown, or drinking a 24 case of beer while in a phone booth. But I guess if you don't have that, an awesome picture will have to do

Well, I moved to the US because both your girls and guys are hotter, your colleges are more fun, your beer is cheaper, your malls are bigger, your people is friendlier, your speed limits are higher, your weather is A LOT better, I get to watch my favorite tv-shows without waiting for 5 months or downloading them, and there's more medical marijuana dispensaries here than there's restaurants in my home town. Gotta love Colorado <3
