Would you brush your teeth with this? (8 Photos)

Leen Sadder, a graduate student, has invented quite the unique toothbrush. Essentially, it is a Miswak twig which has fibers that are much softer than the bristles on a normal toothbrush. Miswak has been used in the Saharan desert for thousands of years and is a natural source of fluoride.

In Africa they use it and they have the best , white pearl teeth we can imagine. And they do't have bad breath or any teeth problems. They pass all the time with that plant in their mouths, chewing, and this plant have a enzime, that mixed with saliva, kill the bacteries.
And no I didnt read this on internet, I was born in Namibe, and my grandparents always told me that.

    • lolyeratool

Do you know a lot of people using twigs for their teeth?
      What about leaf underwear?
I will agree though, while we may have natural alternatives, it makes soo much more sense to break down and use petrol for the plastic in handles and bristles found in modern toothbrushes.. who would want something that requires less work and production, bad for the global economy I say..
Aside from that, its good to know you make choices based on how you think others will perceive you.. I'd hate to think of someone walking in on you brushing your teeth with a natural brush and accusing you of being fashionable.

how can you "invent" something thats been around that long? this should say… Leen Sadder decided to package and sell a stick.

    • TitoRigatoni

Well, he did invent that cool cap that easily trims the bark to the correct length. #6

  • absolutcarcrazy

I cant wait for Miswak….. I have plenty of sticks in the yard.

  • Yessir

There's a reason companies have spent millions designing toothbrushes. That's because they work better than a stick..

  • Anonymous

    thats just weird..

  • GIJane88

I would try it, for sure. I'm curious to see how well it works

Thank god this is around now.

My wife and I would love to try this. We have been changing our whole house over to a more organic way of life. Especially when you think that 1in3 men will have cancer and 1in4 women. Oh and a response to the comment of "locals having white teeth". It's because of our food that our teeth are rotting like they are. If you look at a lot of people who live off the land without foreign aid they have very nice teeth. Many researchers are finding that the side effects of our food system and water system are killing us, aka causing cancer and diseases. Look @ your Local Water report.

I understand most of you will probably flame this post but w/e.

TLDR: The 300+ Billion dollar a year Drug Industry make NO money off you being Healthy… and who is affiliated with said Drug Industry?

Its also available in other 'flavours' coz different trees have different properties of cleaning teeth just like brands of toothpastes and brushes…

PS. great idea in a zombie apocolypse world tho!

  • Neeta

It is a very common practice in India too. People use different kind of twigs to clean their teeth

  • William Clint Taylor

Cool, but no way to remove tarter or brush the backs of your teeth. Tarter will build up like crazy. Just gotta find a way to turn the bristles 90 degrees or find a way to stick a 6" stick in your mouth.

  • RockChick

I plan on ordering one for every member of my household. If you read up on it, the benefits sound incredible. It's cheaper and more effective than a regular toothbrush and if it really doesn't require the use of toothpaste (I'll have to see how fresh my mouth feels after using it) then that will also save a lot of money.

  • Fruit johson

I used this before it went mainstream.

  • Khaqan Javaid

Umm… I dont see whats so surprising about the Miswak… It comes from the roots of a tree like shrub called Peelu. Its been used for thousands of years all over the Middle East & Indo-China. I just cnt figure out if someone gives the correct info here on these forums WHY on earth would the Chivers reading the posts be so… rude if that seems appropriate. If there is something one doesn't know of & another informs you… What is the harm in it? Just click the dislike tab? Dislike this post too. Would simply show that there is more to the world than half naked chicks!!
