Sorry forgive me if I'm not familiar with gymnastics but the guy preforming the act didn't look like he hurt himself in anyway and why the other guy jumped on is all the more confusing, I may be dumb still with out know the fundamentals of gymnastics I'm pretty much lost. So please enlighten me.

I have as much knowledge of gymnastics as you can gain from watching the olympics here and there, but I could probably tell you that either the gymnast released to early when preparing for his dismount, or the sheer force of his body weight cause his grip to release, and that the man to the side I believe is a spotter, which is or should be regulation because of the possibility of injury. I think the guy to the side jumped over to him as a quick reaction because, after all, it was his job to spot.
