Arizona dust storm is proof that I will never move to Arizona (22 Photos)

This dust storm rolled in through the Phoenix area last night. I can only imagine what would be going on in my mind if I saw a force like that headed my way.

Saw shit like this in Iraq and Kuwait At least twice a week. No Biggie. It'd knock over a few tents and that's about it.

  • dobby

welcome to iraq…. been there done that

  • Adrian Williams

This is called a "haboob" and this nature phenomenon only happens 2 places in the world. The great state of Arizona and in the Sahara desert.

    • Infantry Johnson

Great state of Arizona and the sahara? What were those things that looked exactly like this in Samara Iraq? Or Kuwait? Or Qatar? Maybe they weren’t dust storms, Maybe they were dirt storms. Or dust clouds. Or maybe Iraq and Kuwait are in Arizona…

      • Adrian Williams

Good point, and I'd like to thank you for your services. This is what I understood from the pheonix news, not the most trust worthy news source in America.

    • PDubya

Even more rare than this is when two of the storms meet each other. This phenomenon is known as "Haboobies".

I live in Boston and have family in Alabama and always tell them “I’ll take my snowstorm over your tornados any day”

I would add, I’ll take my snow storms “AND” Arizona dust storm over your tornadoes any day

    • busted

I'll take the Arizona heat over any snowstorm… You don't have to shovel heat.

The pictures make it look bad, but it is not at all. I am born and raised in Phoenix and these happen once or twice a year, it sucks if you have a pool or just washed your car thats about it. The worse we have is this and it gets a little warmer for 3 months. The rest of the year its always between 60-85. No tornados, earthquakes, tsunamis, or insane cold. You can't beat living in Phoenix, AZ.

I don't own a Snowshovel – don't have a Storm Cellar – and have never felt an Earthquake
AZ Summer is payment for Short-Sleeved shirts in December

    • Tankins

I would also add: Incredible state and national parks. Hot ass women.

But speaking as a native, I'd could never return to that ass backwards culture.

    • Bluto

Wrong. Also native Arizonan. It doesn't "get a little warmer for 3 months." Summer lasts 6 months minimum here. In the early spring, a day arrives where you say, "Wow it is really nice outside." The next day its 100+. The only time of the year this place is bearable is in December and January (granted it is really nice that time of year). I always say, "They might as well have built this f@&#ing city on the face of the sun."

I hate this God forsaken hell hole. Someone, please, GMFO.

you bitch to much about the heat to be a native.

  • echogeo

Hurricanes in the South, tornadoes and twisters in the mid-west and nor'easters up North. Riots in the streets, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!

I think a dust storm would be much better than say… hurricane Katrina?

  • Dr3xell

#22 Wow! This looks exactly like that scene from "The Mummy"

  • Dr3xell

#19 Wow Phoenix must be boring if you gotta get together with your friends during a dust storm and chill on the Patio at Starbucks.

  • creatorofbs
