Ahead of the the curve (23 Photos)

Norman Wilkinson came up with the idea of camouflage at sea using diagonal stripes. In 1918, Norman painted bright colored strips which made it difficult for subs to determine the speed and direction of the target. His camouflage pattern became known as "Razzle Dazzle".

    We learned about this when I was in the Navy. Sonar kind of killed the need for it, though. Still, I thought the ships looked pretty cool.
