if football (soccer) if for pussies then why the **** do you pussies where pads for your version of rugby (football)?

  • Frank

Altidore's (#5) was actually an injury, not a dive. He wasn't touched, but you can see him step funny on his left foot, and he actually couldn't continue past this.

While the rest are all ridiculous, you have to look at it in perspective.

With all of the leagues and matches in each league, professional soccer has about ten times as many games and so many more players than American sports. Yeah, some people dive, but we spotlight just a few egregious acts that have happened over the course of time. It's like making a post of the Artest-Palace Brawl, Haynesworth's stamp, Roberto Alomar spitting, and Todd Bertuzzi's punch in the back of the head and saying all American athletes are thugs.

Also, I don't defend diving, but it's not just confined to soccer. I've seen dives in the NBA. In the NFL, MLB, and NHL, there is just less of an advantage gained by diving, but there are many other comparably negative aspects to those sports.

Well this type of behavior is what we hope video referering & bans will hopefully stamp out eventually. As for soccer being for pussies tell that to Vinnie Jones,Stuart Pearce,Chopper Harris or even the Chelsea Headhunters…..And contrary to what you believe most of the world couldn't give a shit if Football (Soccer to you) doesn't take off in the USA.You stick to your NFL with it's 450million mainly US fans & we will stick to our little game with it's mere 3.5 billion worldwide following.

NEWSFLASH: IF YOU THINK THAT SIMULATION (DIVING) IS CONTAINED TO PROFESSIONAL SOCCER/FOOTBALL ALONE, YOU ARE A MORON.

More popular? Yes, because it's easier to exploit in soccer. It's just the nature of the game. If you're running full speed beside someone or trying to get around them, controlling a ball with your feet, your legs (those two things below your waist that are responsible for bipedal locomotion) are prone to be tangled up or get clipped by a defender. You WILL fall down some times. If it is legitimate, it is called a FOUL, if not, it is SIMULATION. There are rules against this.

Logically, some proportion of those playing the game will take this risk and fall down when a foul was NOT committed in an effort to trick the referee, usually to give their team a leg up with a free kick or a penalty shot. IN THIS SPORT, THIS CAN DECIDE A FUCKING GAME. UNDERSTAND THAT. When you are being paid millions of dollars to WIN, it's not unreasonable to think that some will abuse the game to help their team win. This happens in other sports as well. Sadly the problem appears to be worse in soccer, because it's easier to get away with because of the huge field, legs getting mixed up, no instant replay, and the reality that a well timed dive can decide a game. This is CHEATING. REAL soccer players and fans despise this part of the game and want harsher penalties for those who are caught.

IF you still think soccer players are pussies because of the diving, you kind of have a point, but understand that not everyone does it.

IF you think that soccer players are pussies because it isn't a physical game like football, check your fucking ego.

SIMULATION HAPPENS IN ALL SPORTS, SOCCER IS THE ONLY ONE THAT IS THREATENED TO BE RUINED BY IT.

to all you saying that this is the reason why soccer isn't big in the united states, get real. idiots. this country is money hungry and revolves around everything having to do with money. a game of football? a couple downs and 3 minutes of commercials. baseball game? lucky to go a full inning without any commercials. basketball? a couple points in, commercials. hockey? couple minutes and commercials. this is the only game where you have to sit there and watch 45 straight minutes of actions and get only 10 minutes of commercial time during the half. that's the reason why soccer isn't big in the united states, retards.

  • Beast

On half of them you can see the players clearly tripping over their own feet. I wonder if that's even more embarrasing that they can't even run straight.

  • Jingleheimer Schmidt

Sorry but #5 and #6 are not dives. Out of the thousands if not millions of actual diving video clips out there you pick these two.

  • Mark Thompson

This shit has been going on for years. In England we used to pride ourselves on this embarrassing nonsense being part of the foreign game but it has gradually seeped into our game too. Many nations consider it part of the game – being able to con a referee is considered a legitimate skill in Italy and Portugal in particular.

It is embarrassing but there is more greatness about the game which outweighs this bollocks.

They do it in basketball also. If it was considered a foul it football to tackle I guarantee they would do the same thing. Its just about winning over your opposition no matter what it takes you gotta win. Thats all it is really and when theres money on the line shooooot…. anything goes. Thats what i think at least, cant say for sure.

To those who say that Americans will never love the sport, what about the New York Giants taking a tumble? Please save the hypocritical comments.

WTF, missing the Oscar winning performances by Ronaldo! :)

    The master of dive!

  • The Dean

    Disgusting display.

HOWEVER the NY Giants American Football champs admitted to faking injuries to get an extra time out (google 'ny giants fake injury' if you want) during the past season.
Diving also happens in basketball and just about every other sport….so to say soccer is 'less manly' because of faking injury…must mean that american football and basketball are less mainly too…..
Or here is a thought: all are great sports, its just the whimps who fake injury that are less manly.

  • Johnny Deigh

The one on Torres isn’t a dive. He got his foot clipped and it caused him to trip.

  • Rich

All these yanks calling football a pussies game. I'd love to see you go and tell that to Vinnie Jones' or Roy Keane's face.

  • KISS MY ASS YANKS

its not soccer you motherfucking retards, its football, and its not the shitty egghand ball you yank bastards play. fucking american shit eating cock sucking sons of bitches
