I'm pretty sure he carves the log with a chainsaw. I'm not 100% sure on that, let me go check and I'll be right back to you.

      • Phil McKracken

        Yup. Chainsaw.

    • dub

      Wood shopped.

    • deepwellbridge

More like "chopped I've seen a few chops in my days"

  • yo yo ma

I'd just carve a notch at the top and call it a giant penis so this guy is probably more talented than myself.

    • dub

    • Bill57

well at least you are honest give yourself a few points

  • Kcruz09

Man really likes to play with his wood.

  • Twon

I think i like them better unpainted…anyone agree?

    • Jeremy

I was thinking the same. You can see all the extra detail easier unpainted.

      • http://thechive.com/ GernBlansten

It was art until he painted it. You don't see many painted statues in museums, just boudoirs.

        • theweathermansaliar

Actually, Greek statues were originally painted very brightly, the color has just worn off of them.

    • HeyJewed

I would have liked it if he gave it color through burning the wood with a blow torch or something to keep it natural; although, they are still impressive.

      • flydenrict

I think he did burn them. The only ones that look painted are the jet black parts and the white accents. could be wrong though

    • drew

A nice nearly clear stain would have served them much better, for both protection and to bring out the color of the wood. To each his own.

  • drew

My parents had a guy carve a Native American out of a dying tree stump growing up. It's pretty impressive to watch — the guy had about 8 chainsaws of various size running from massive down to little ones the size of your hand for the detail work. Quite the skill!

    • Sitting Bull

So that is where Native American come from…

      • drew

        The Iroquois, anyway…

    • NAACP

Did he have one this size?

      • drew

Honestly, yea it was about that size. Just a touch bigger, I'd guess.

    • geez

Why did you parents want a wood carving of me?

      • Matt

I'm guessing maybe they believed that whole "My great-grandmother was Cherokee" bullshit.

  • Phil McKracken

Those bears are going to maul the fuck out of the rest of the animals

  • Twon

    but still very nice

  • SeaBassEX

He needs to carve out a nice set of boobs.

    • Sinbad486
