that twisted my melon man
british television > american television. There is no arguing this.
weeeeeeeeeell. I dunno.
When you think about it, I mean reeeeeeaaally think about it. I'm from the UK, and I don't watch TV. I used to work in television production and I don't watch TV anymore. I just watch the Soprano's boxset.
Jimmy Carr and Lee Mack. Gold.
love this kinda stuff
"Does it only work with Einstein?" I spat out my coffee at that one. Almost got the computer screen…
THIS IS FAKE!
THERE'S AN OBVIOUS SHADOW CAST BY THE "INSIDE" OF THE FACE AS IT SPINS AROUND..
What a sad world you live in.
Actually since the plastic isn't completely opaque, the shadow is bleeding through from the other side
QI top show.
The best way to get a post on the chive: post it on reddit.
WTF is a reddit?
If this is all posted on Reddit, why would you even come to this site at all. Seems like a huge waste of time on your part. Once your done browsing Reddit you can go outside and do something with all of your free non-chive time. You're welcome.
they got these as you walk through the entrance of the haunted mansion in disneyland
Thank you bennyhaha I was waiting for the reference
Yes,Yes they do.
QI is just lovely.
Thanks to whomever sent this in, irregardless of prior postings on reddit.
You've made my morning, as most things involving Stephen Fry do.
Have a sumptuous day.
"Irregardless"… not a word
Regardless of irrespective opinions . . . you are correct.
I was nailed on this word in college, and told it was "an Indiana thing." Never forgot it.
"irregardless" can be a word if we want it to be. I suggest Melvyn Bragg's brilliant and accessible "The adventure of English" for an interesting take on the fluidity of the English language.
Yep, or to quote what Stephen Fry (the host in this video clip) said on the matter, "usage is the arbiter final." As much as a new word or grammatical structure might irk you, if it catches on then there's no justifiable reason to call it wrong.
A linguistics major
He talks about this further in one of his podcasts. Also, his feelings on swear words (which he fuckin' loves)
Outside! Outside! Outside!
"Inside! Inside! Inside! ….. OHHHHhhhhh…."
that is so what she said
Alan Carr's reaction was more entertaining than the illusion itself. Still, seems like Fry is scraping the bottom of the barrel for crap to talk about if that old illusion is quite interesting. Next up on QI: Is it two faces or one vase? Duck or old woman?
I meant Jimmy Carr… not Alan Carr. I was thinking of Alan Davies when I wrote that for some reason.
is your name an anagram of retard?…
If I remember correctly they go on to say that this trick will not work on people with schizophrenia because of bad connections between the sensory and conceptual areas of their brains. Still scraping the barrel?
QI is seriously the best show ever
QI is awesome. Stephen Fry should be knighted
I believe that he's been mounted, if that helps.
The US needs QI. I miss it. Not some bullshit watered down replacement like they did with Top Gear. The real deal with Fry et al.
british humor > all
mind blown. That's probably the coolest illusion I've ever seen
I want an Einstein jello mold!
qi: best show ever
QI is epicness with the all knowing Fry
Works with other things besides faces – there's a classic set of black-n-white photo's of eggs, that are actually egg-shaped depressions.
It is based on how our eyes interpret shadow and light, not faces.
I neeeed one of those! With my face preferably.
WHY WASN'T I INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A NEW SERIES OF QI?!?
Because BBCA are a bunch of assholes who wont broadcast it in the US .
There's also a mini series documentary following the first few shows this season.
That's wrinkling my brain.
