thank you for not writing FIRST!!!! lol.

      • Major_Rocker

I've been the first poster many times. I just don't care if I'm first or not.

  • Dan

Pretty sure I saw a few of these photos in the Detroit gallery earlier today

  • sheoncebelieved

Dictator/Liberal ….same thing always ruin everything

    • It's the same, Jim

Yes, extreme right wing is exactly the same as left of center.

      • http://www.facebook.com/ewalk216 Eric Walker

I think you're confused, extreme right wing (conservate, belief in the US constitution) is freedom from government. The opposite of the current definition of liberal or dictator.

        • Oolon Colluphid

Which is why conservatives have suspended the Constitution in the name of safety and security.

        • dadawg77

Right = Freedom from government (aid or taxes) when it concerns wealth
Left = Freedom from government when it comes to personal items

    • Jman

ya because it was the liberals who got this country in the mess we are in…oh wait

  • Natureboy

    #19 – shootin hoopz

  • Jon

…Imagine, in some alternate reality, the White House being in a gallery like this. Weird.

    • Fasteddy14

That depends if the "Constitutional scholar" in charge decides to reinterpret his own term limits…

      • AnyoneForCoffee

Damn, you ignorant republicans are tedious.

Turn Fox off and read…that's READ…something impartial on the subject, doofus.

        • THIS IS MADNESS!!!

Nothing is impartial. You make money by appealing to a certain audience, plain and simple.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=727315024 Brandon Brookens

alternate reality? like the US is immune to failure you mean? like every other empire before? oh i see what u mean now…

      • No You

        ^ what Brandon said.

      • Eddie

        Wait, we're an empire?

  • AssClown

#5 Ken Jeong a dictator? Prolly a dictator of all the "funny" people in Hollywood…

    • lalala

      That's Ferdinand Marcos, idiot.

      • AssClown

Sarcasm – The use of irony to mock or convey contempt.
Fuckin hate it when people don't get my shit…

        • scallywagggg

          Because your shit is dumb.

        • Wally

          I recognized the Marcos's – just didn't know who Ken Jeong is . . . or was.

    • Fasteddy14

You cracked me up there…good observation…

  • L_E_Ott

    Where's Steve Jobs' house?

  • http://thechive.com/ cubanitagirl

damn i wish i had a hous like that

    • http://thechive.com/ cubanitagirl

  • BIll57

I'd rather have the money thanks

    • http://thechive.com/ cubanitagirl

      good point lol

  • Verbal_Kint

Quite a disparity between the opulence of the ruling class and the crippling poverty of the citizens in these places.

    • http://www.last.fm/user/mutiilator Brand_n

That's pretty much the case anywhere outside of North America and western Europe actually.

    • pupi

Because that doesn´t happen in America

      • Verbal_Kint

        Not even close….

        • Call it Republiscum

No, 46 million in poverty in the USA is not even close. That's 1 in 6. Hooray for anti-regulation and unbridled capitalism. Freedom! Freedom to be screwed over by anyone who fancies taking a shot.

          • Kodos

I don't call that 250 fat-ass yammering on her cell phone and swiping her food stamp card "in poverty".

            • THIS IS MADNESS!!!

Agreed. Poverty in the States is like middle class in other countries. I'd rather be poor here than starving over there.

              • Eddie

                I'd rather be rich everywhere.

        • dadawg77

Ninth ward on NOLA vs LT's house as seen on the Chive.

    • Really?

Much like the US these days, as well.

      • oh hello

      • JDB

Rich getting richer, and the poor getting poorer.

      • mises

Well, no. Rich people in the u.s. have worked hard and provided goods and services and jobs to many other people. Dictators just take and steal everything from their citizens. Not at all the same….unless you are talking about the u.s. government, then yes much like here sadly.

        • Fawx

Its called Socialism. Which has unfortunately managed to plant itself into just about every western nation, including the USA. It more or less works the same as a dictatorship, Let everyone else work hard and then take it off them and reap the rewards.

          • Krusherx

What? There are more conservative/right wing governments than ever all around the globe…

            • THIS IS MADNESS!!!

Currently yes, but if you read Fawx's comment he said "managed to plant" meaning it's going to start to change and grow. I'd give America 5-7 years until shit hits the fan, that is if jobs don't turn around in the next 1-2 years.

        • Verbal_Kint

Yep. Take money vs MAKE money

        • tell it

Don't delude yourself. No amount of hard work deserves the wealth of the wealthiest in the US. It's exploitation and bribery. They win, someone, somewhere loses. Not through hard work as you call it, through amoral greed.

          • drew

And let's not get into how much of that wealth is grandfathered (in some cases literally) into the upper class. It takes money to make money.

          • THIS IS MADNESS!!!

Bullshit! if you were in their shoes, you would be the same way, we all would be.

        • dadawg77

Not all rich have provided anything to anyone else. See Paris Hilton.

  • Dan

#3 Wow, I'd LOVE to have that.

    • JDB

What, those dudes in the water?

  • The_Dude_

    opulence, i lost it

  • Dirty_Johnny

Can't wait to do this to the White House. Revolution Style.

  • Annalisa

"See the gold plated mermaid fountain at the other end of pool, and that Ferrari Enzo? Thats all the IMF aid money from1998!"

  • 2cool4skool

    #16 Like a boss.

#31 Even piles of money can't buy you decent style. Lots of these are plain tacky.

    • Fasteddy14

Yeah, the same can be said of Donald Trump's ornate apartment. Tacky…

    • dashete

Subtlety isn't really the average dictators forte

      • 2cool4skool

        Lol, well put.

  • fukyu

    Yawn ,this sucks.

    • EZEE

How about they effing label the pictures so we know what we are looking at?

      Chive is really slacking lately.

  • Lia

Jeezz, zcz! That one bathroom that is pictured looks like lt has more square footage than my entire house! Unless the multiple wives are dropping multiple litters of children, there’s just no good reason for anyone to live is such big place…other than because they can…

  • JarHead

#14 is from the times and those two climbing the stairs are my best friend Adam Wiedler from the Corps and his gunner at the time Montoya. I was around the godamn corner lol. Way back from the 2003 invasion of Iraq 1st BN 7th Mar fuckin Suicide Charley.

  • Dtown

    still nicer than Detroit.

  • JDB

    hahaha, love it.

  • Master Chief

Been to most of these places in Iraq. I once said I would rather go back to Iraq than to Mexico because I felt safer there. So the Navy sent me back again. Next time I'll keep my mouth shut.

  • Kit

I think I recognized some of those rooms from the Bluths' house.

  • JDF

yeah #2 and #16 are from the nature preserve palace in Iraq. Ive actually been to these and the pictures dont do it justice. Lots of Iraqis civilians money stolen to buy these things.

    • chicksdigit

Yup, Al Faw palace. Anyone that passes through there has the required picture taken on the "throne". Victory Base, 2004-2005, back when we could run around all the palaces and not be hounded by a bored CSM from some unknown higher headquarters.
