Thousands of people stripped to their underwear and ran through Salt Lake City to protest what they called the "uptight" laws of Utah, which is full of bullshit laws. Utah is this home of the Mormon church, a vocal opponent of same-sex marriage (amongst many other churches out there. I'm Catholic and the Pope isn't exactly the poster child for equal rights).
Also, Utah recently tightened up its already-ridiculous alcohol laws earlier this month. If you're unfamiliar with Utah's confusing and archaic stance toward alcohol, suffice it to say that when they repealed National Prohibition over three-quarters of a century ago, Utah didn't get the memo. The 'Zion Laws' outlined right here.
It's no ASU run for sure. Ultimately, the promoters main goal of the event was to get the residents and lawmakers in Utah to, 'just loosen up a bit'. That's a message theCHIVERS can get behind.

How many unwanted boners?
The comments about the state of Utah, from people that don't live here, are ignorant and unwarranted. I'm a transplant from Southern California and my wife and I CHOSE to move here from Orange County to raise a family because of the quiet, the skiing, and the scenery. I had the same preconceived notions before I moved to Utah that I'm sure many of you that have never been here or lived here have, most of them are very untrue. It's not all Mormon, as Salt Lake City is now under 50% Mormon. Mormons are pretty much like anyone else. I know more Mormons that drink and cuss than Mormons that don't. Polygamy is about as rare here as it is anywhere else. I'm yet to meet a person in a polygamous relationship and I've lived here for 7 years. Polygamy is prosecuted here as harshly as any state. While we believe that many of the drinking laws here are strange, it's very easy to get around them and they only affect you if you're a fucking idiot. If I want to get shit-faced on a Sunday, I'll go to the liquor store on Saturday. You can still buy beer at the grocery store on Sundays. The liquor laws really only affect those that feel the need to drink at 9 AM on a Wednesday. So for all of you simple minded fucktards that are judging a state that you apparently know nothing about and making generic statements about something that you clearly misunderstand or are misinformed on, shut the fuck up. I don't go to your anime porn site and make comments about gay fraternity gang rape, because I know nothing about it. That's your territory and for me to comment on it would be unfounded. I expect you to do the same.
