travertine terraces. Stems from a precipitation/solution instability in warm water coming out of hot springs. Forms terraces as precipitate builds up.

I have visited this place; good one. But walking 3900 meters on 4000+ meters of height was little bit hectic (beer helped a lot, though).

Resident Evil 2 il primo capitolo della serie al quale ho gitacoo, ed attualmente il mio preferito. Senza dubbi. Premesso questo, la mia opinione una: per quanto il comparto grafico sia notevolissimo per il Wii, la moderna mania di creare sparatutto su binari odiosa. Ok, una categoria di gioco che piace, senza dubbio. Ma non per Resident Evil. Per chi si chiedesse il perch (non credo molti, ma comunque mai dire mai), ricorderei al mondo (e alla capcom) che resident evil un alternanza di zombie lenti e macchinosi ed enigmi, enigmi, enigmi. Ed proprio quest’altalenarsi di gameplay (nonch la tensione onnipresente) che dava spessore alla serie. Ora riducono tutto ad uno spara e ammazza. Banale.

I don't know if these are actually travertine or some other mineral that forms similar structures. Travertine is quite stable and rock-hard, but limestone and other minerals are more delicate.
Havasu Falls in Arizona USA has similar travertine structures, and they have no restrictions against swimming in them. I have been swimming there, and the travertine structures are very hard and stable.

they come in different sizes and form in different environments. I wasn't aware of any ones that you can swim in, but I am pretty sure these are travertines. If they aren't, what would they be? Travertine is not a mineral, by the way, it is the structures they form that are called travertines. The minerals are various carbonates. The ones I have worked on are not very consolidated, but formed in cooler temperatures than the ones pictured here (and are under very strict protection).
