    Road trip, anyone?

    • Shaun White

Where do I pick you up?

      • ChelseaRules

Utah. If you really were Shaun White you'd already be here.

        • JDB

          NICE

  • Will.

    I'd pee in that. #3

  • Verbal_Kint

There's def some crazy amazing stuff to see in this world…

    • AssClown

theChive is the only place I get to see these crazy amazing stuff, since every other post is about:
      – "Cool houses"
      – "Sometimes I daydream about backyards like these"
      – "Four ultra modern, badass homes from around the world"
      – "Awesome athlete houses"

      • Verbal_Kint

And Sasha Gray…. Based om my exhaustive research last night, your comment from yesterday was spot on.

        • Dick Salad

I see what you did there

You can have a nice pool party there..

  • Wankle

#4 most relaxing place ever…is this Narnia?

    • Really?

      Actually it's where Predators were.

      • HerbertThePervert

#14 – to anyone who's been here: Is there any cliff diving opportunities here, or anywhere else on site?

    • Ben

No cliff diving here. The pool isn't really all that deep and it's a bigger drop than you may think. Also, with our drought the waterfall looks nothing like that.

      • Will

        HUGE DROP! Awsome place though.

    • scott

you can jump illegally there……but no guarantee you come back up. EMS goes there more than once per summer for body recovery.

    • Mr Smith

X2 on what Ben and Scott said. PLus, swallows make nest on the roof top of the cave so when we have no rain to flush the water, the pool stays stagnant with bird dookie. Can't even swim there if you wanted. I haven's seen Hammie Pool like this since the late 90's.

    • The Guy

There used to be jumping from the top deck back in the 70's and 80's but some folks bottomed out and died and that was then end of that. My dad conquered it in the 70's.

  • manchakattack

If this was want vs need, this would definitely be need.

  • NOOT

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they film a scene in Predators there?

    • McBeastie

We should check with the four people who saw that movie.

    • racerx2112

I was going through the comments looking to see if anyone else had this thought. Yes, yes it is.

    • Jeff

Was thinking the same thing myself. I believe you are correct.

    • Ryan

They did. Robert Rodriguez's production company is located down in Austin and this place isn't too far from the city.

  • hMMMM

Reminds me of the Cave of Swallos. So many geological wonders in the this particular area of Earth – Carlsbad, Grand Canyon, Crystal Caves…

  • dan

I THINK this is on lance armstrong's property

  • texass

    where in texas exactly?

    • SamIAm84

      Dripping Springs. South of ATX

    • Brit in TX

      Travis County, West of Austin.

    • texass

      thank you!

  • PFizzle

Have been to the pools many times, I lived in Austin for 10 years.

Also, I was 10, and we ran into a couple of topless girls (they looked big then, wonder how they stack up now). That's probably what made me want to go to UT.

    Ah…memories.

    • JDB

HAHAHA, same here man. I live in Houston, and have traveled up that way several times. Every once in a while you will catch some nice topless sunbathers.

      • Apocalyptic waist

How's that concrete jungle working out for ya?

    • sooty

      I think you mean mammories.

    Austin, tx …. Ftw

  • Lowrent75

Very cool. Need to visit that.

  • Takingbackcider

Texas eh,How long before they dig for oil? :/

    • JDB

Obviously you don't know anything about Texas. Texas has one of the best parks and wildlife departments in the country, and some of the beautiful country as well.

      • Apocalyptic waist

Weird. For a state populated mainly by the foaming at the mouth Christian right, you would think such a socialist endeavor would be killed with fire for the sake of a couple million more minimal wage jobs…

        • Jack_LeMac

You've never actually been here (Texas), have you?

  • WhiTey_T

Hey, Hamilton Pool!! I used to go there all the time when I was in school! No cliff diving, just swimming when the bacteria from the cattle ranch upstream isn’t too high. The Texas Hill Country is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever had the pleasure of living.

    • Holy Hell

      #13.
I have lived about 15 miles from the pool for at least 20 years.
It's one of the most original places in Texas.
Certain plants and animals can only be found there.
The drought has really hurt this place though.

  • DooperGuest

    First!!!!?!?!?!?!!??

    • http://thechive.com/ GernBlansten

      srsly?

  • Unfkngblvbl

wonder how long until the rest of it collapses….I wouldn't hang underneath it for too long.

  • MONKEYPAULA_

    #4 oh c'mon that's obliviously shopped

    • http://www.davewilsonphotography.com Dave Wilson

Strictly speaking it's Photomatixed. That image is created using a process called High Dynamic Range photography which blends multiple exposures of the scene into one final image. It's impossible to shoot Hamilton Pool and get a good looking image without using tricks like that since it's so dark underneath the overhang.

      • topher1979

        Cool story bro

  • Underbaker

Looks awesome, do they have camping there? And is there any water left after this last drought?

    • Andrea

There is camping nearby and there is water, but not as much. It doesn't look quite this pristine this year. These pictures are from a few years ago.
