Sad because…there are lots of vets and active guys in the occupy movement.

    • etcrr

Lots of vets? show some numbers and proof. please

    • Poo-butt ass

    • Justin

OWS is down the block from my office. Haven't seen a vet there yet.
      Bullshit status: confirmed

    • battleherc

There's always that 10% who falls through the cracks. There are far more conservatives in the military than liberals… probably because of our strong convictions of personal responsibility, faith in God and country, and instant willingness and obedience to lawful orders are things that do not compute in the liberal mind.

      • Bobby j

Good comment "battleherc." Very good. Here here!!!

    • Blargsmash

There was one alleged Marine in Oakland, but he received a dishonorable discharge. That the best you got?

    • FromNorthJersey

there are people down there claiming to be vets, but im not sure if they actually are vetrans or if they are the type who came foward during wintersoldier who had been classified unfit for service and were just pretending.didnt half of those guys who testified and threw other peoples medals over the white house fence with john kerry wash out in boot?

  • François

Fight for freedom in bagram ? Fight for freedom and justice in your own land !

  • etcrr

They fight for the right for Freedom of all not just the U.S. Just remember Francois you would be speaking German if it wasn't for the U.S

    • Herp Derp

You did know that prior to official combat operations that started the German war machine, America supported Hitler's Germany through political and economic means. And I don't mean just Henry Ford's personal man crush on Hitler. We would be speaking Japanese, since they got the closest and initiated combat against us.

    • scott

Remember we would still be speaking the Queens english had it not been for the French.

  • Darryl

So you see below that there is a high percentage of unemployed veterans, there aren't stats on the make up of OWS people but there are several articles that mention them or quote them:… NY… – DC

SO if a movement is about giving all people greater social justice, greater opportunities, and a better democracy, how is that at odds with what a soldier is and fights for?

In the decade since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, 2,333,972 American military personnel had been deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan or both, as of Aug. 30,2011. Of that total, 1,353, 627 have since left the military

About 12.1 percent of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are unemployed, compared with 9.1 percent of Americans nationwide, according to the Labor Department

    • Patriot 89

how about the fact that they fought for their country and the ideals that form it? These occupy pukes are standing against capitalism, the very thing these soldiers laid down their lives for. They want everyone to share everything and are revolting against the "establishment", yet are living in Columbia tents and sleeping in North Face sleeping bags… big corporations. They need to get their sorry asses back to their jobs and quit bitching.

      • scott

These soldier stand for capitalism? When the Constitution of the United States was written there was no "Capitalism" Adam Smith would have no way to envision what we call Capitalism.

        • @Rabiddogg

The concept was there. Our Founders were influenced greatly by the Scottish philosophical movement that Adam Smith was a major part of. The Federalist Papers, which were written by James Madison, John Jay and Alexander Hamilton in order to explain the Constitution and their vision of what the federal government would become, are chock full of Smith's ideal amongst others. They wanted the individual to have as much freedom as possible and the government, especially the federal government, to butt out as much as possible. This was because they saw what destroyed Rome and also because the Crown that they just fought against continually told them what they could buy who they could buy it from and how much could be charged. (much like Obama is doing).

    • Mary

There are those pretending to be vets, who've bought their 'uniforms' in a surplus store. There are vets who get exploited, by the same leftists who spit on our troops and slander them as killers. All I know is our troops put their lives on the line, and sacrifice for our freedoms, the same freedoms these leftists want to take away from us.

      • scott

Who is slandering our troops and spitting on them. It's not 1967 anymore.

        • BS61

Hello?! It is the 60's again with the OWS and a radical President in office.

    • ExZonie

"SO if a movement is about giving all people greater social justice, greater opportunities, and a better democracy, how is that at odds with what a soldier is and fights for? "

This movement isn't about any of those "ideals." It's about a marxist takeover of the US government, which is impossible with an armed citizenry.

      • scott

        No it's not.

  • Dr. Al Koholic

abc, cbs, nbc always slant the news. you have to go to the Dept of labor or Vets assoc. to get the numbers.

  • Ben

Screw Bagram. Get your pog-asses outside the wire. I'll give you an extra cookie at the DFAC if you can point out Sangin on a map!

  • green

that pog has an m16 with no optic at all….i think thats like a super pog if im not mistaken

  • François

Yes I'm french, but fond off US culture, which is huge and complex. Yes US army gave our freedom back, and I'm thankfull for this (that 's why I'm visiting this site everyday 🙂 )

. But I'm just wondering why active soldiers are fed up with the idea to fight those who got richer by lying to their own co citizens. While they are working on their mission in Bagram, sacred rights our your constitution are denied… Sad.

    • kateyleigh

If OWS has it's way, our freedoms they take advantage of will be restricted. They're delusional. Look at the people that are promoting and funding them. These people have a history of being well..thugs. I don't think you understand.

  • Jas

This just shows that these clowns have got no idea about the issues that caused the OWS movement and what OWS is protesting. People with this attitude don't seem to understand that these are not trivial issues and that OWS is likely helping them in an indirect way.

However OWS has shown themselves to something less than what they, our men and women in uniform, are fighting for. OWS doesn't seem to understand it's these men and women that are preserving their right to behave so miserably. These the OWS, are the same people who spit on the flag our military defend and call it nasty.
OWS doesn't represent 99%. We know we work for what we want. We respect the rights of others, and we don't obstruct their rights. We don't demand we be paid regardless whether we work or not, we don't demand free schooling and forgiveness of our school debts, we don't think we are owed, nor that we start at the top, or not at all. We know we learn from the bottom up and we may even have to get our hands dirty. We understand that there are no jobs beneath us. We know sometimes life isn't fair.
We don't interrupt ceremony's swearing someone in for office, we don't march in crudely and crassly interrupting the right of a group to convene just because we don't agree with their ideology or philosophy. We don't stand in front of cars obstructing traffic and preventing those people from exercising their right to get where they're wanting or needing to be. We don't call the police pigs and throw things at them. We know what true democracy and freedom is, we don't play at it.
We know it carries responsibility. We know that freedoms are finite, they stop where another's begin. We understand that just because we can do something, doesn't mean we should.
I think we've seen what OWS if offering, the less than civilized behavior, and we don't want it.

The horror script with you greedy #OWS guys just seems to write itself. It's getting to be almost old hat to recount the daily #OWS rapes, deaths, suicides, assaults, thefts, hypodermic needles and human waste running in rivers in our city streets.

So now you can add paralyzing New York City traffic, shutting down bridges and subways packed with honest citizens just assuming their lives, chasing down little grade school children and assaulting police officers.

3 concepts foreign to the liberal mind…..

    1. A quote from the late Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931–2005: "You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

    2. You would expect a conscientious person, of whatever degree of intelligence, to reflect on the strange contradiction involved in denying people the right to unearned wealth, while supporting programs that give people unearned wealth.

    3. If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one. If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat. If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it's a foreign religion, of course!)
If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

    Recovering Liberal

PS. The American soldier is what a real hero is and I am constantly in awe of their honor and integrity. God bless each and every one of you!
