These are so-called false color images. The images are taken in grey-scale (Google "SEM image") and the color is added afterwards to clarify which parts are separate. The same is done with astronomy pictures all the time. The universe is a beautiful place, but not all of it is as colorful as we have been lead to believe

These images were not magnified 22 million times. The maximum magnification for the most powerful and sophisticated transmission electron microscopes is around 2 million – far from the advertised claim. Also, if you were looking at these objects magnified 22 million times, you would be looking at individual atoms. But science never was your thing, Chive. Despite these incongruencites, the images are nice. Stick to the funny shit and hot babes though!

22 million times, I doubt.. I can see a raspberry.. 22 million times that would be a raspberry 80 miles wide.

I think they meant it had capacity.. but the raspberry at best multiplied 10 times.
