Nice and entertaining, but it is an important and dire point. And much much more important now than even when it was printed. We are over $15 trillion in debt, and we can't even agree on how to stop its growth, let alone pay it down. Without the creation of new wealth (not just taking it from the rich) we are doomed. But maybe that's what some want…

Hooray for economic conservatism and individual freedoms

    • Facepalm

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Do you know what country has "economic conservatism and individual freedoms?" Mexico. How's that working out?

      • Honest

        Wow, can't teach stupid.

        • herpaderp

Tell that to the people who watch Fox News.

          • Owen Smithers

You'll find that conservatives generally look at many sources for their news and information and aren't afraid of opposing viewpoints. It only helps better define their ideals and resolve any hypocrisies.

        • herpaderp

The truth? Mexico isn't actually a poor country, it's wealth is just consolidated. The second richest man alive is from Mexico. That is what happens when you don't properly regulate your economy.

Not regulating the mortgage industry worked out so well for us. Smaller government FTW?

          • Owen Smithers

Haha! The mortgage industry turned out the way it did because the federal government told lender they must lend to people who were poor credit risks. They were forced to loan money to people who probably could not pay it back. So, naturally, being business they looked for ways to cover themselves against this stupid law. And then spawned the huge mess that happened.

            • yawn

Wrong. Subprime lending was a predatory practice that should have been regulated and was a policy by the banks as a way to achieve tremendous profits. The credit crisis later was a result of banks participating in lending practices and investment practices, allowing people to speculate on those sub-prime home loans, a practice which also should have been regulated.

              Try again.
