for the people who dont understand, it means that every atom that is in our body can be traced back to a dying star somewhere in the universe… in other words we are all star children. all life is made from star dust… it puts a perspective on the real goal in life.

anyone realize that this is the "we got a badass over here" guy?

I could listen to Neil read the phone book. Love him and his personality, saw him on both John Stewart and Bill Maher last week. That being said, the music is awful, and certainly shouldn't have played WHILE he was talking. The whiny bullshit lyrics distracted from an otherwise great message.

    Fun Fact :
At 2:20 you can see a close up of a little moon near Saturn (or some other planet with rings, whatever)
And for some reason I asked myself what was the size of the Death Star in Star Wars.
And on the first link I clicked (which is below), there was the picture of that exact little moon that they used to make this little clip.
Blew my mind (probably won't blow yours though)

    The disillusioned call this "Evolution".
The unconvinced call this "Intelligent Design".
The wise call this ""The Handywork of God.

Yeah and all those collapsing stars/universe is a living thinking being called God. Science tells us how and religion tells us why. They belong together and not apart.

I love this stuff and I also love Jesus! God created it all, so of course we share some of the same elements. I get frustrated with Christians and Scientist alike trying to disprove each other. People need to read The Reason For God by Tim Keller.

good up until he stops talking, the rest after is GAY

Isn't this the same music as was played with that ice-skating on the frozen canals in Amsterdam video a few weeks back? There's gotta be more "profound moment" music out there!

  • Clint_Schmitty

I f-ing love Neil deGrasse Tyson – named my beagle after him and am even trying to find a way to shorten the quote a little bit and get my buddy who is a tattoo artist to get this stamped on me. Love this from the moment he shared it on "The Universe".

God damn Neil's the man. Really glad he's going to be the host of the new Cosmos mini-series they're releasing next year.

    This man should be President.

  • SaganWasWrong

The reason we should feel a connection to the stars, is not because we came from them. Rather, we like them were created, not from a spewing of "space stuff" that somehow just came together like a species soup. Pretty pictures, but incorrect premise and focus.

    but what about jesus?
