      And yet last in life!

    • KeepCalmDriveOn

Some men just want to watch the world burn.

    • TomatoTipper

I can already tell I don't like you and I'm not going to like you no matter how many first posts you get.

      • Underbaker

I guess "First" impressions are always bad on TheChive. :-)

  • http://www.theanisette.com Daris

#13 And thanks to the chive, my eyes have been dilated for the last three hours. Cheers.

    • jack

      no shit…LOL!!!

      • r@f

        #52 is bullsh#t

  • YourMom

Nice try Chive…. You aren't going to fool me again….

    • JOHN

Actually a lot of these are true. Including the fact about apples, the dog, the chicken, the Eiffel Tower (because of heat creating expansion in the metal.) #29 is true but also true of sugar, unless it gets wet. like YourMom

      • Chris Moltisanti

Maybe they shouldn't have lied to us before. There's no point in reading random facts when I have to fact check them to see if they're true.

        • Fart

I just checked on the Hitler one. Somehow that seemed questionable

          • AnyoneForCoffee

He wanted a car built that would be available to the entire German people and not just the elite. A wagon for the folks, as it were.

            • mrjimmyos

Also gave everyone in Germany radios, which were later used for propaganda…

            • phil

his version had no rear window, because germans don't look backwards, only forwards.

  • KeepCalmDriveOn

Another fact of life…"First" posts are never going to be cool, no matter how much you try.

    • Rollen

Lies. I remember one time, one man called "Interesting Chiver" Made a first comment, It was epic.

"I don't always post at theChive, but when I do, I'm first"

      Epic post is epic

      • KeepCalmDriveOn

I do remember this, and as you stated, he took a tool of the troll and put a Dos Equis meme twist on it. Original and not technically a firsty.

        • Underbaker

This is true, making a relevant comment to the gallery or a witty remark and sneaking in the word "first" into it while actually being first is often rewarded with many upward pointing thumbs.

    • bobbylamousse

Is this a real fact or maybe just another joke ?

    • TheJesus

Also…complaining about "first" posts will never be cool, either.

  • BigPup

    #9 Because they didn't have Facebook…

    • Caity

Also you don't use an apostrophe to indicate plurals, so maybe this is just this dude's way of demonstrating how small his own brain is

      • Maureen

You may want to check your own puncutation, whore.

        • BigPup

        • Jack_LeMac

Apostrophes do indicate possession, so Caity did have it right. You, on the other hand, could use some help spelling.

        • http://dinkus.blog.com Emzilla

          I love you, Maureen.

        • Chels

          What's wrong with his punctuation…?

        • RJay

And you spelled punctuation wrong. -_-

    #43 unless you're fat

    • kyle

      "average heart"

      • lonin

        "average, nonAmerican heart," then.

    • justabill

It's actually still about the same, just that overweight people tend to have a faster resting heart rate. So they reach that limit faster.

      • coinbank

except fat people tend to die sooner on average…therefore less heartbeats in their lifetime

        • lordastral

right, but if their heart beat faster … then …
it will reach the 3 billion mark sooner like justabill was saying.

Reading comprehension wasn't your strength in school, was it?

          • coinbank

I say we leave the debate to some researchers in Finland…

  • hark1985

#53 how much do we shit in a life time?

    • Del

the average 'Merican eats 50 tons……..

      • lonin

And shits 75 tons…make sense of that.

      • Jose Valdez

That's a lie Del. I eat a half ton of tortillas and a ton of beans. And I poop in your back yard.

    • bridgemaster

35 tonnes less body weight = sweat, shit, vomit, urine, lost hairs and skin shed.

    • Jose Valdez

      That's a good question!!!!!! Jajajajaja

    #33 Counter Clockwise

    • Gallus

Yea, apparently the digital age has impacted our vocabulary. More will surely come.

    • TChrisB

    • Calm

And technically, Uranus rotates clockwise as well.

    • Janet

That is the British english version of counter clockwise.

    • Chris_ninety1

It's 'anti-clockwise' here in the UK (although plus a million points for the guy who said 'widdershins', does this mean Venus can be considered deasil?)

      • TChrisB

Thanks! Almost as good as karma points!

        I'm a southern U.S. boy, so you can't even call me a "Yankee!" :)

And I have never heard "deasil" so thanks for the addition to the ole vocab.

    • Underbaker

Where I am at it just goes from left to right.

    • http://twitter.com/danieljillm @danieljillm

Venus actually does move counter-clockwise but it is upside-down so it appears to move clockwise

  • figleaf

    #52 — how so?

    • IamAwesome

It' s in correct. Flies do kill people but mosquitos kill more people.

    • futurewolf

it's not, the most dangerous is the mosquito but probably the artist doesn't know how to draw one.

    • surf

because they taste with their feet. if they land on fecal matter or other wastes or something that is harboring bacteria and then they land on your food, bam , they just transferred something deadly that you are now about to ingest.
also, I guess they have something that they release to break down the food… so enough of that substance could kill someone small. googled that last fact.

  • KeepCalmDriveOn

If facts about farting turtles impresses my friends…..I'm getting new friends.

    • coinbank

      spelling aside…very funny

      • KeepCalmDriveOn

American education system, what can you do…

  • KeepCalmDriveOn

    Let's ask him ourselves…after all he's still alive right…

  • DeathByCherio

#12 # 42 That's pretty screwed up that Hitler was world renown even before the whole, you know, war.

    • Lifewithoutignorance

Hitler was a politician first. He united a country that was ravaged by the first world war and gave them a purpose to exist again. His political intelligence was second to none and he rose from near nothingness to "governor" of a massive part of the European continent. If you ignore his abbhorrent policy about Judaism and the whole master race idea, he was a very charismatic and powerful world leader…. Just sayin'.

      • Guest

Ravaged implies that the country was somehow a victim in WWI, which it was not. And the people he united were the ones pissed off that we took all of their guns away at the end of the war and told them they couldn't have them back (like we did to Japan at the end of WWII).

    • tanakattack

He was man of the year because he was the biggest newsmaker of 1938. Stalin was also man of the year. 'Person/Man of the Year' is a misnomer, because it doesn't actually matter if the person is bad or good, just that they influenced the news more than any other figure in the past year. That's why many believe Osama bin Laden could've easily been named Person of the Year in 2001.

    • Tebow

He was actually a very famous Hockey player in Germany. Still holds a lot of scoring records for the Gunderbachen league. He received man of the year for his induction to their Hall of Fame

    • Jose Valdez

Smart man but head effed up. Andrew Jackson (on the 20) ia awarded Americas title "Hitler" for the Trail of Tears he caused. Probably related to Bush.

  • reaperMEDIC

    #3 That's what she said
