Hungry? The best breakfast joints in America according to the Chivers (30 Photos)

We're breakfast junkies here at theCHIVE and two weeks ago, I posted some of the best breakfast joints that I'd ever been. But I also asked the Chivers for their favorite breakfast dives. These are some of your favorites...

  • Wtf

    Hullabaloo diner in wellborn, tx

  • Hugh

    Fondest memory of Merica? Denny's.

    That is all.

    • Jon Stewart

      nobody cares.

  • Scott

#5 they asked for “dives” not liberal yuppie hangouts.

  • Southern Boy

What? No shrimp & brown gravy? No grits & brains? Not one cat head biscuit ? I suppose we can give a nod to #20.

    • clemgrad03

      Shrimp & grits…and gravy = AWESOME! Some spicy sausage wouldn't hurt either…

  • Jeff

No way #30 isn't shopped. Have you EVER gone by Cafe Du Monde when there wasn't 500 tourists in line? First thing you learn when you move to N.O. (well, second..first is "don't speak to the police") Never go anywhere near Jackson Square.

    • Dan

Maybe it was at sunrise, before the tourists woke up.

  • Dan

#25 I've eaten there. Fantastic food!

    • Joe

I hit up DeLuca's every time I go back home. Love that place. Has a line around the block every Saturday & Sunday morning.

  • Fkn Nick, Duh

Surprised no one from Minneapolis posted Al's Diner. Have to wait in line for hours to eat there on a Saturday.

    • Slappy_McGee

      Al's Breakfast, not Al's Diner.

  • european chiver

    that was soooooooo disgusting :D:D

  • TomHaverford

    DeLucas ftw

  • p dangerously

    #28 looks like vomit

  • Rob

As a chiver from NH, this makes me proud.

  • BostonChiver.

Been to #10 and #25 but the two best places I've been are Chelsey Royal Diner in Brattleboro, VT (on the way to Mount Snow/my home town) and Wayside in Berlin, VT….you won't be able to eat until dinner, no joke.

…da fuck? How do you NOT have Barela’s Coffee House in Albuquerque, NM on here? Best Huevos Rancheros ON THE PLANET. Three US Presidents – Clinton, “Dubya” Bush, and Obama, all agreed. Anytime they stop in this God forsaken city, THEY ALWAYS ask to stop and eat at Barela’s Coffee House.

    — true story

    • LosHuevosRancheros

Seriously, on the planet? You don't come to Mexico too often, do you?

  • Anonymous

    It’s diarrhea

  • Robert

    • green machine

    • Not a fan

The only one in this whole post that looks appetizing

  • mike

Some of that stuff looks like breakfast to me. (nh,nc) And, some of it looks like it was cooked by a make-up artist! (Hollywood)

  • wrangler 86

#11 Rama Jama's also makes an awesome burger n fries!

    • Roll Tide

  • CRB

Puget Sound: Maltby cafe > Beth’s

  • QTheLibertine

#4 exemplifies everything that is wrong with effing Dallas.

  • Meh

    #13: I worked there. Instead of a 5-second rule, they have a 2-minute rule.

    • Bones

This was one of my special places to go when I had time to enjoy a meal, not any more. I am not sure if I should thank you or hate you.

      • Meh

That was just the tip of the iceberg, my friend. On a side note, I did make Bo Derek scrambled eggs when she came in for the Derby. Still fiiiiine!

  • misslisa

#23 & #29 – Nomnomnom! They sound so good and look pretty tasty too! Annnd now I'm hungry…

    • mooseknuckle907

Snowcity food is pretty good. wait time is a bit much but worth it.

  • Floyd

    #29 Mother of God.

    • AkWingnut

Personally I LOVE their Heart Attack on A Plate….

  • Chivettesea

I’ve been to two of these: Beth’s caffe in Seattle and snow city in anchorage. Snow city cafe has the best food. Hands down.

  • tbfordman

Surprised no one from MI put Tony’s I-75 Cafe in the mix here, awesome breakfast. A side of bacon is an entire lb.

  • Chris

Yolk. is in Chicago…not River, NC.

River, NC is in the middle of the Nantahala Forest and it’s tough to even consider it a town.

Got my hopes up for it to be some suburb or Charlotte or Raleigh, now I’m sad. And hungry.
