I get what fibo might have been trying to say though. I NEVER cry, almost literally, and I welled up and came close to shedding a few. Very touching. Especially as the older son started walking toward his dad to hug him. Very cool, thanks Chive.
And especially thank you to the soldier for his service!
family_style
fuck his service, bringing death and misery to the world!
Charlie_Cheen
So are we talking like "death to the infidels" kind of "fuck his service"
or are we talking like "hurr durr I'm a hippie, end all the wars" kind of "fuck his service" ?
I mean either way I hope you burn in hell after a long excruciatingly painful death, but I just want to get a mental picture of whom I'm mentally beating with a white hot metal rod…

Rob
These damned things always make me cry.
saltygary
What got me is when his little boy said his name, it was probably the first time the dad heard him talk in person.
Pangea250
I'm at work. I'm crying.
Wulf
Same! I just yawned is what I keep having to say.
Charlie_Cheen
Luckily for Pangea, he works at an onion slicing factory so his empathy will go without taunting.
Verbal_Kint
I'd be lying my ass off is I said I didn't well up… that was wonderful.

There is nothing I love more than troops reuniting with their kids.

Yes, I guess it takes some of the load off their shoulders after killing other kids

Aww! I love these videos!
Red Skull
The thought is very sweet. But i do have a couple of concerns with this video. First, this kid thinks his dad is Captain America now. Which I guess is't a bad thing. Kids need heroes. Bud I'm getting increasingly frustrated with these welcome home videos where, if the kid doesn't immediately break out into giant bawling tears the parents have to goad the child into a reaction. Put the camera down and just enjoy a quiet reunion. Stop trying to get your child to perform like a trained monkey. Sorry if this offends anyone. No disrespect meant.
Red Skull
PS. Thank you sir for your service. You are appreciated.
REVOLVER_KAZ
That was pretty douche baggy.
Master_Rahl
what do you expect, it's the frickin' Red Skull. He's no Cap fan, that's a fact.
dbq
but that's just it, the guy was very cool about his kid being in shock, and asked a couple of times if he was alright. He didn't want or expect him to 'perform'. And I'm sure his son thinks he's a hero in any event regardless of the costume…and I reckon he is…
burr
Well he is a hero. No doubt about that. So I don't see the problem. And like dbq said, he asked the kids if they were alright and gave them hugs. It's just a nice little surprise, not really a huge production
Byron_Black
I'm not sure if I agree, but I see your point.
army
so youre obviously not a soldier or related to anyone whose a soldier.
KSoldier
I understand your feelings, but please consider a couple important things. When a Soldier deploys, their kids are hit pretty hard having lost a parent for up to a year, possibly forever. The family is thrown into a near chaotic, very negative situation. Some parents really wish to make the reunion the most memorable and positive for their kids.
The toughest thing that I had to deal with was after my return from Iraq, having to re-unite with my 2 year old daughter who didn't remember me or know who I was. I was a stranger to my own child.
I think this was a clever thing taking a character that the kids already knew and revealing him as someone who truly loves them very much. I think when the kids watch this video 10 years from now, they won't feel as you do.

I had to deal with the same thing with my son. Its very hard to walk in the door and say hey I am daddy when they dont know you. It never is an easy thing to deal with. There are time's you dont even want to take R&R becouse it hurts to much to have to say goodbye.
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=527160308 Mark Binns
I don't think people are trying to make a production of it for peoples fucking thumbs up on youtube… They record it for family sentiment. I think the coaxing element is just to break the kid out of a daze. The kids are in complete shock, and need a little jumpstart to get their heads going again.

Red Skull, find the closest bottle of bleach and start chugging. Thank you.
