As much fun as it looks, Its just model jets behind a green screen for about half of it. The flare shots are real, but the combat portions are super imposed. The HUD is fake as well. A too good to be true moment. But accurate to how much whoopass Merica can unleash!

weren't those projectiles supposed to hit those vehicles?

You can definitely tell much of it is staged, you don't fly those one-seater if you are doing something other than touch-n-go ops. It was nice to see some familiar territory from the air, tho.

This is cut scenes from the IMAX film they show at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola FL called "Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag". It was a large scale war game evolution conducted and filmed over several weeks with several international participants. They just cut scenes and dubbed music over it.

Think they also have something similar in the IMAX on the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi, TX. Looks way better on an IMAX screen though.

If I see one more fucking Corona commercial, I'm going to flip out.

As cool and fitting as the song is; Did anyone else immediately hear "Highway to the Danger Zone" in their head over the background music??

This really deserved something more awesome for the music selection though. Something more metal and harder! It would have been more fitted to the brass balls on these pilots!!!

This is footage from the IMAX documentary about Operation:Red Flag. Its a huge multi-national multi-service wargame scenario conducted as a training exercise on ACM (Air Combat Maneuvers). This is basically an international version of Top Gun. This was badass on an IMAX screen btw.
