A little social experiment: Be a celebrity for the day (Video)

59 14

Using his real first and middle name, and with the help of just a few staged people, tons of people believed Thomas was a famous actor, including mall security. The mall assigned Thomas a security detail who escorted him everywhere and even helped close stores for the supposed celebrity. Most of the footage was captured with a single iphone.

It’s a sad world we live in sometimes.

I'd like to see the footage of them all being told that he is a normal person.

When "… the help of just a few staged people"= hot girls, people are going to believe that. Everyone got that the girls in the beginning were the actors, right?

    This is awesome!

MacArthur Mall, Norfolk, VA. And yes, there ARE really stupid people here. In a world where instantaneous, digital, global information is yours for the taking at the press of a few buttons on any SmartPhone… and not one of those morons even bothered to look up his name or stats. I weep for the future of our society. Derp, indeed.

    • Deep Breaths...

Calm down SuicideSam, don't jump off the bridge just yet. It's likely the majority of people DID look his name up, if not ignored him altogether and just kept walking. However these scenes probably just didn't make the final edit and/or happened off camera. Remember, you are only shown what they want you to see.

As for me, I'm a HUGE Thomas Elliott fan!!!!

The f'd up thing is the people just handing their kids over to him for pics. Famous or not, who the f**k does that? Now the parents can tell little Sally how mommy and daddy got derped at the mall.

Just an observation.. but I noticed that the only people who really fell for that (I mean, following him around, giving out their phone number… screaming) were white girls. Seriously, couldn't one of them google him? it would take like, two seconds on one those smart phones their parents bought them….

    • boolip

I think those were his friends that were in on it. All you need are a few screaming girls in the background to create a buzz and set the stage.

  • Bingo

This is horrible. And yet, if you did this same thing in Korea, you'd have a thousand chicks trying to bang you the instant you walked in.
