    It's a Rube Goldberg machine…not a Rube Gold machine. Just saying…

    • Snipes

This machine went through Ellis Island.

      • BBB

I thought it was a machine for virgins. damn.

    • cjohnson0927

Chive, I dont even both watching your videos whith the ads. Cut that shit out.

      • FigureItOut

Its 2012…. get an ad blocker already and stop bitching.

    • Rhoethbeort

call it anything you want, because it is NOT a rube goldberg machine – many of the actions are simultaneous and, at best, coincidental, rather than being sequentially linked and causal (as they would be in a REAL rube goldberg machine).

      • JHL1

Incorrect – there's nothing that says you can't have simultaneous actions in a Rube Goldberg machine. The end result depends on what happens before it and there are many steps involved – that is the definition of a Rube Goldberg machine.

  • Snipes

I am pretty sure the OK Go This Too Shall Pass Rube Goldberg machine was bigger. It had 700 pieces covered two floors and stretched about a half a mile.

    • mick fly

Just watched the OK Go version and it was definitely a thousand times more bad ass

    • D K

College engineering students vs a team of over paid hollywood engineers to make a video…. these guys did it with less money, less time, less girlfriends, and more beer. Props to the guys here and OK Go is a shitty band… just saying

      • LucretiusCarus

Agreed. OK GO really only has cool-looking videos going for it. The music itself is pretty blah.

    • nerfherder

Hate to rain on your parade, but the OK Go machine was not all done in one take. It was done in sections and then edited together. Sorry : (

      • jefenmoose

Hate to rain back on your parade, but OK-Go did 85 takes that resulted in 3 full runs (http://igniteshow.com/videos/ok-go-rube-goldberg-machine-updated). See also: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/03/ok-go-rube

        • OK No

president and ceo of dude that made it saying "trust me it was one of 3 seamless takes" vs little asian dude with nothing to prove that has specific examples and proof that the stupid video was at least 3 takes….

i take asian dude. you are stupid. it was spliced together

      • https://www.facebook.com/timothy.peverley Timothy Peverley

Hate to rain on your parade but I saw it run through in person. The video might have been edited but the machine was fully functioning.

    BTFU…!

    • Muadieb

      Go Purdue!!!

  • Dougie R

ahahhahaha, they go to purdue, girlfriends, they do not have…I am a man from embry-riddle, I can be certain of this!

    • 340

Embry Riddle Sucks. We have girls.

    • Bill L

Too bad Purdue has a better aviation program, a better aero engineering program, and the largest sorority life in the country. BTFU!

  • MattKL

That is CRAZY. And very cool.

  • RandomTask09

This is awesome, but I would have had 301 steps by adding a video-camera tripod.

  • Random observer

    IRONIC

  • Tess Silcox

Did anyone else find that very unsatisfying because it was so hard to understand any of the cause and effect?? All seemed to just happen. Bummer

    • StaticFX

agreed! it was impressive that the panels flipped and changed, but it was hard to tell what was going on and where each item was leading.

    • NebraskaGuy

NOT a true Rube Goldberg machine – some of the functions (like squeezing the oranges/lemons/whatever-they-were), did absolutely nothing to contribute to the machine.

  • Logicyup

They grew up watching Pee Wee's Play house I bet.

  • Reign_Maker

    Mouse trap… More fun…

  • spud

How to protect your virginity in 300 simple steps!

    • http://BeerAndStupidity.blogspot.com/ BeerAndStupidity

      Simple?

  • Aske M

When the first board flipped… awe-sooome!

  • ricky

This is how we men would make are breakfast, if women didn't exist……

    • Grammar nazi

      *our

  • DK

Epic guys… From a fellow Boilermaker

    BS / MS Nuclear Engineering 2003 / 2005

PS: keep up the engineering and don’t worry about girls…. they come when you make the money… they always do

    • that_ALBANIAN_guy

Actually, as far as I know, girls come when you stimulate their erogenous zones.

      The more you know.

      • Black6dog

I thought pretty things was one of their erogenous zones

      • D K

aww… that's cute. I do know… but couldn't care. Make too much money and look too good to care if they do or not. What's it like being a poor dumb hipster anyways?

    • lmntropy

And sometimes not at all, amirite?

      • D K

sometimes I even care… well, not really… amirite?

    • Muadieb

      Right on DK…
Currently a Boilermaker… Physics and MET

    • Red

DK is correct, chicks (ones with half a brain) smell the money, they eventually hook up with an engineering or pre-med major.

    • NothingToSeeHere

      Truth!

  • Attaxia

    But…. why ?

    • P-Zo

      CAUSE STONE COLD SAID SO!!!

  • saladfingers1

    meh

    • Meh

      Yes?

  • DaUndeadDodo

    Go Lauren!

  • Jeromeo

No one is going to come within 300 steps of their virginities after that video

  • DatWop32

I think the guy that says at the end "I think we need to go home" is DEAD ON!!!

    • I_am_golf_c0m

Was that before or after someone yelled "group hug"…

  • Mat

Two words: Steady Cam. (And less fat ass in the last few moments.)

  • dpitty

Would have been so much better if the end result was my 2 minutes back.

  • Adam

So much effort for something so weak. Maybe the shotty filming doesn't do this justice but still…..weak.

  • Bob

Sorry to say but I've seen better. Looked a little clunky and not the worlds biggest…

  • Bill

    Virginity Protection Level: 1000

  • Tony

It's recordbreaking in terms of the competition, which states that it has to be a certain size. http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2012/04/record-bre
