Some guys at Purdue built the largest rube goldberg machine in history (Video)

It uses 300 pieces to blow up and pop a balloon. I bet that really impressed their girlfriends.

The OK Go Machine was never actually run in one take. The Music video has a slight skip in two places where they had to use different takes because the machine would fail. Not to mention OK Go hired a team of top notch Engineers to build theirs while these guys worked year-round under the pressure of tough classes and within the restraints of the competition they were entering. (6'x6' Cube, no fire, no animals, etc.)

OK Go's video is a product of wealth. This machine is the product of Hard Work, Dedication, and Ingenuity.

Oh… And I met these guys. Most of them have girlfriends.

Repetitive & unskippable Corona commercial isn't a good look… mix it up or add a skip feature.

One does not simply blow up a balloon.

Just clicked on this to say that I didn't even watch it because Rube Goldberg machines are boring as shit. Cool the first time I saw one in 5th grade but once you've seen one, you've seen them all. Yes I am right. Fuck you.

  • TJIsThatGuy

Instead of popping cherries they pop balloons. Good for them.

I thought the title said "Some gays at Purdue built the largest…" Then I watched the video and was severely disappointed.

  • Amigo

awesome, but if you spend 9000 hours building the fucking thing, you think you'd get someone with a nice camera who can shoot a decent video to film it go off?

I am a Boiler, and these guys are perpetuating stereotypes. However, I am proud to not be a Hoosier!

The spinning sections are pretty neat and inventive.

Way to go Boilermakers! As a female engineer, we get those "virgin, unattractive, nerd" stereotypes as well. It's quite disheartening…

It was a good machine. I was a part of the competition from the Penn State team. They took second place, we third.

The point of this machine is to troll survivors of the apocalypse, the end should have a trollface saying "U MAD!"
