Super Soaker 50 and Umbros… My life in the 90's.

I had a recurring nightmare as a kid that involved that gun. Well, its ammo. From ages 6-10 I often dreamed that I was standing next to mom in the kitchen and she's cooking bacon on the stove. I go to grab some from the paper-towel covered plate, and she says "No, not until you pick up all those damn tracer discs" and hands me a plastic basket full of green fake easter grass. I take it, turn right, open the door to the basement, and go downstairs to pick them up. When I get to the bottom of the steps I look to the left into the big open room, and from the hallway in the center of the far wall (which I know leads to me and my brothers' rooms on the left and spooky empty rooms on the right) comes 3 things that are the size, shape, and move like Slimer from Ghostbusters. They're witches, though, and they're bastards. The light goes out and they are on me. I fight them, punching and throwing, and make my way up to the top of the steps, kicking witch teeth like a boss, and manage to flip the light switch in a reaching, off-balance stretch, then they pull me down the steps again. Doesn't matter, light's on. Now I can see, and now I will really kick ass. Then one of the 3, the one that's been hanging back and laughing while the other two fight me, laughs even louder and says "Doesn't matter, we rigged the lights so they'll only stay on for an hour." and right there I know that it doesn't matter how well I fight, they'll never get tired and I will. It's only a matter of time.

When I was 10 we moved to Goodland, KS and into that house from my dreams. Exactly. The kitchen, basement, room layout of basement, everything exactly the same as the dreams. I flipped my shit. Didn't matter, we had bigger things going on (3 year old baby sister diagnosed with diabetes). I spent pretty much every moment at home at night in big brother's room because I was too scared of what was across the hall, which was just the empty room for my baby sister (who never went there, was always upstairs with mom & dad) and an empty storage room. But those dreams..

#25 feels way too recent. I was in middle school during that time. Not long ago enough to feel nostalgic, despite that being more than 10 years ago.
