Random Acts of Kindness: A Callout to the Chivers – REMINDER

We here at theCHIVE are firm believers in helping those around you, and sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest difference. So for the next week, we encourage you to go out and perform a random act of kindness for someone. However big or small, get creative and make somebody’s day a little brighter.

Snap a quick photo of your random act of kindness and submit it to our handy dandy submit page here or thechivesubmit [at] gmail [dot] com, and show the world how awesome Chivers and Chivettes are!

For a little inspiration.

I don't even bother with the Chive during the day anymore on my Droid. Even the App is a pain in the ass.

  • DrBoogie_R32

Shouldn't it be Random acts of "Chive"ness?

    • Panigale

      You are an idiot.

    • yup

I see what you did there!

    • nuccabay

My friends daughter died unexpectedly. She was 14 months old. Today is my birthday, I gave them all my birthday money to help pay for funeral costs. If you would like to help out go here. http://fundrazr.com/campaigns/9If8f They don't have much money and will be taking time off of work. He does so much for others, can you do something for him? P.S. His first daughter had a rare disease and she died just before the second one was born. He's had 2 funerals in a year and a half, both being his daughters.

  • Emily

Wow, I clicked into the comments expecting to see a lot of positive reinforcement and ideas, and all I see is negativity. I think a lot of you missed the point of this. Maybe stop worrying about yourselves and think about others.

    • stonewall_79

      Agreed, so many douches.

  • Sam

What's up with all the haters?

  • F3n1x187

I'll add "Would you kindly……" to any reply I do to mayerjacoby. Is that enough?

  • Richard

I see he still needed to leave a note.

  • StuOwen

    Love it!

My fiance and I purchased a soldier's lunch last week. His sister said he just got home last night after 2 years… and had just met his nephew. No need for a picture. We should all do random acts of kindness without saying a word. Let alone documenting it. Chive on always… but do things from your heart.

  • Steveo

Nice one Chive. I probably won't send a pic, but consider it done.

  • trucker bear

i left a dollar bill attached to a note saying this movie is on me, and taped it to a redbox with a bandaid because i didnt have actual tape! and of course told them keep calm chive on and wrote the website on there just in case they had never chived! just doing my part down in odessa tx!

Some lady fell face first walking to the train station and busted her eye open yesterday. She refused medical treatment (although she took my tissues) and the newspaper guy outside the station walked her to her train, even though she said he needn't do that. I wasn't going to take a pic of that, but just wanted to say he was very sweet for helping her out when no one else stepped up (aside from me and my tissues).

By conciously planning to perform a random act of kindness

    • John Doe

wouldn't it really be a planned act of kindness? Food for thought.

  • skinger

How about all the Chivettes out there perform a random "act" of kindness on us Chivers? Now that would be an epic difference-maker…

    It's a good sect.

  • Chantal

It's not a random act of kindness if you are doing it then taking a picture to post on here. Love the Chive, but this is lame. Most people are selfish and self absorbed, that is why this is ridiculous. True kindness requires no recognition.

    • Patrick

      To someone else it is.

here in the shier we call the act of paying other's meters is called"robin hooding"

  • Chad

Just fyi… it's illegal to pay other peoples meters…. dumb, but true…

    • Adriana

But its neat when it doesnt stop anyone from doing it… Just saying.

      • stonewall_79

        That's the spirit girl.

    • Nodootabootit

It depends on the municipality and its By-laws. Each municipality enacts its own By-laws and enforces parking. Parking meters are not legislated at State(Provincial) or Federal levels. So unless you read the By-Law of the municipality in question, there may not have been anything illegal about it.

We've created a website to encourage random acts of kindness and make it more fun by turning it into a game complete with badges and a leader board plus it's totally free! Please visit our site, http://www.uGooder.com, join the movement, and do some good!!!

    • NiceGuysFinishFirst

Sweet! Sounds like fun, just signed up and earned some bonus points!

  • Nodootabootit

A lot of people are missing the point here. The note left on the car by the guy doing the good deed was not to obtain any recognition, it was left so the beneficiary of the good deed would possibly pay if forward and make some else a little bit happier and so on.
