#4 It can be hard to put the size of a Nimitz Class Carrier into perspective, until it is near an Iowa Class Battleship.

Not sure Arizona is still referred to as 'USS'.

That is for commissioned ships only, and Arizona was formally sticken in the 60s, I believe.

Still, to come into Pearl and be able to say "WW2 started for us over there (Battleship Arizona), and it ended over there (Battleship Missouri)." is pretty cool.

"It is commonly—but incorrectly—believed that Arizona remains perpetually in commission, like the USS Constitution. Arizona is under the control of the National Park Service, but the U.S. Navy still retains the title. Arizona retains the right, in perpetuity, to fly the United States flag as if she were an active, commissioned naval vessel."
So you're right, it's decommissioned but can fly the flag.

The Navy strikes sunken ships from its rolls but lists them as "still at sea."
