Its releasing NOS.. you can install the hoses out of the bottom sides or hood like you see here its a pretty sweet effect I have it on my 91 IROC Camero.

It's to purge any nitrous vapor from the lines before using it. Having liquid/vapor in the lines fucks up your AF ratio, which can make the motor bog down for a second, the exact opposite of what you want when you're hitting the go-baby-go.

I'm also going to scoff at you for saying NOS. NOS is a brand, and certainly not the only brand for nitrous systems.
