all of these pads look incredibly expensive and even if i had the money, i would only buy/rent them if somebody (a female) was nagging me to get a nicer place. Are there any guys out there who are really this into mood lighting and fireplaces?

is it just me or does it seem like the chive always makes it look like men need to own incredibly nice things to validate their existence?

Curious that "dream bachelor pad" seems to automatically = modern architecture/design. I much prefer something more rustic and less antiseptic than poured concrete, chrome and glass. Just not my thing. Something like this though (http://www.blogcdn.com/www.luxist.com/media/2008/04/bootjack8.jpg), that'd be more my preference.
