    #18 hit me hard

    • niglett

This only works if you are also a genius – otherwise it doesn't matter how much time you have. Believing you are a genius when you are not is not an endearing characteristic.

      • Turrebo

I think it means that whatever you have to do, "not having enough time" is the one excuse you can't hide behind.

You don't have to be a genius to make the most of your life.

For some people that means painting a beautiful picture, or composing a spine-chilling piece of music.
For others it's just making it to the next day without using drugs.

Both achievements are equally brilliant, but not achieving them because of a lack of time is just stupid.

      • 0CanadianBacon0

You don't need to be a genius, you just need to work hard.

    • heso

You actually have a few seconds more per day than they all did.

      • TCSthesecond

        Dont forget the leap years!

      Me too. Oof.

    • huh?

didn't read it, to many words.

    • weaksauce

Damn it, i just lost my most used excuse for why i can't get anything done.

    • MylesofStyles

True, but not one of those guys ever had the sweet, seductive, beckoning of the Chive in the background while they were trying to work.

    • A BiPolar Guy

If the number of hours in a day were all there were to being Michelangelo or Einstein this would have a point. However I really don't think that by diligent effort we can all do what they did, though we could do more than we do, perhaps.
I think the better course is to know that "I don't have time for X" means I consider X less important to me than what I am using my time for now. So own up to that or reallocate your time.

      • Dolly Parton

Yes that's much more eloquent than the original quote. Thanks for the Edited version. Bipolar Guy

      • Kristen

        Fuck off.

        • A BiPolar Guy

Moi? Don't see what you are offended by.

    • DarkHorseCards

I disagreed with this one completely. Did they have two kids they had to raise and support? Did they have a nanny or a housewife to take care of their kids? As AE said, it's all relative.

      • Dolly Parton

Those were your choices. Still are. Leave on someones doorstep if they are that much of a drain on your happiness and success

  • decielito

    • slob-0

Chuck Palahnuik wrote the book, Fight Club

      • Guy

If you like to read, try some of his stuff. He has a way of seeing the world that is different than most. Try Survivor or actually read Fight Club.

        • MattyDeuce

Survivor is fantastic. If you all are up for having your mind really exercised, pick his books up. Rant, Diary, and Haunted (my absolute favorite) will leave to shaken to your core.

#13 – that is just brilliant!

    • Anonymous

I think it should be the other way around.
If MY presence can't add value to YOUR life, MY absence will make no difference.
Make a difference like the Chive has done for many.

  • Damian

#2 That is only because the greatest lie ever told became the most accepted truth. The BIBLE.

    • klh

This has nothing to do with that but rather how society rejects the highest truths because it usually isn't app for change or simply can't beat to listen to it such as when they first hear it such as MLK regarding equality and other great people of the world. Actually, Jesus had to do with great truths as he was put to death due to him telling the pharisees what was wrong with them… That's actually a good example of that.
You know what is just as bad as religious loonies? those who like them, shut their eyes to the lenses of the world because they are too busy hating on God

    • crab-man

Careful, unlike # 3 some people just cannot handle thinking about these things…

    • sparks103077

      yes it sure is

    • Pete

I think the point stands – the New Testament began life considered blasphemous by those who followed the Hebrew Bible, and before that I'm sure the same was true for another religion.

What many now believe to be truths were considered blasphemous just a few years ago (and sadly are by many still) such as evolution, but yet others un yet discovered will overturn out own thinking and be just as hard to accept. We might, for example, one day discover ginger kids do in fact have souls.

    • asdf

25 dislikes? Sure is christian faggots in here

  • TCSthesecond

Just add a picture of Taylor Morris

  • SolidusSnake420

Hey I don't have to add #16 down here this week. One of my all time favorite quotes.

  • Jason

Isn't it sad that there's places in the world where literally none of these apply. In other words- there's no availability of motivation.

  • Ahmed

    This was nice.

  • Zaedrus

#21 Don't you dare say this about the Chive, dammit.

  • Rod

#23 that "it's darkest just before dawn" is complete balls

    • Ted

Please explain the science behind that moronic comment.

      • A BiPolar Guy

Since the "dark-dawn" statement is not meant to be scientific the science is irrelevant but if onesilly enough take it literally the darkest time of the night depends on where the moon is in the sky (e.g it could be up or set just before down) , clouds, and if you want to get really picky what planets and stars are in the sky.
On the other hand as a metaphor some would quibble with the idea that when our troubles are at their worst they will soon be over. Optimists agree, pessimist do not,

  • Joe
