That's about 20 minutes from my house, it's a great place to go when you want to hike or take pictures but don't want to drive up into the mountains. Yay for the Columbia River Gorge!

This shot was taken near Trogir in Croatia, not far from Split. This hidden shore was a little paradise, with a good restaurant beside it. An hour later the sky was spoiled with a thunder storm.

#15 is Grand Prismatic in Yellowstone National Park. I've stood almost in that exact same place looking at the same sight! Such a cool place!

Not the Matterhorn but most probably Switzerland. Somewhere in the Bernese Oberland, perhaps Kleine Sheidegg.

I don't think it's the Eagles Nest, the mountains there aren't as steep as these and I'm pretty sure there is no glaciation in that region of Germany.

I love these pictures almost as much as I do the FLLBP. The only thing is I see these and realize how little my world is and how much I have yet to see and do and this makes me think and look a little harder at what I need to do to experience these places and move up and up and up to where I wish to be.

There's only a few places in the world where columnar polygonal basalt forms like this. Iceland is one place, Devil's Postpile National Monument in California is another. I believe there are some formations in Turkey and the Giant's Causeway in Ireland. I'm sure there are other places but these are the places you'll find the finest examples of this type of geologic formations.
