the structural integrity of the foundation in the area they blew a hole doesnt really matter. the windows header above it deflects the load around the window to the edge, if you look you can see they only cut to the edge of where the window is.

As a structural engineer, I would be very unlikely to put my stamp on something like that. Window or not, that wall is now being asked to span 10 foot. Though for all we know, there is a beam inside the basement that we can't see that is taking that load. Hard to make an assessment as to the structural integrity of something from 2 pictures.

100% hand crafted Countach out of aluminum and a space tube frame. All aluminum body formed on a wooden buck using an English wheel. My own design space frame with Corvette hubs and custom A-arms. Mated to a ZF-25 5 speed. S.S. 180 degree headers GT40 design "bundle of snakes" Boss 351 bored stroked to 377 515hp 48 IDA Webbers. One off TransAm BBS rim shells to my own center section wheels. Custom brake package to fit 16" wheels. Fuel cell, twin aluminum sprint car (Howe) radiators. All aluminum interior with leather dash, Momo seats and 5 point harness, on board halon fire bottle. quick release steering wheel. Low to the ground at 2700 lbs. 100% body correct by using a real Countach to measure from. Over 10 years in the making.

Why go through all the trouble to build what is considered by many to be a mediocre handling '70's supercar when you can still buy a decent one for probably less than it cost to build this one?!? Jeesh, build something rare and unobtainable like a classic Ferrari or Porsche 959.

If you want a car that feels like its one step away from being put in a straight jacket and taken away by the men in white coats, any Lambo of Diablo era or older is the car for you. This car is the equivalent of that completely crazy chick you keep dating cause she's so good in bed, even if you can't take her to the grocery store.

Well said, and for work I have driven quite a few 959's and a couple Ferrari's, not quite what they are idealized to be, cool and fun, but most modern sports cars will still blow the doors off

The 959 would do 0-60 in 4s and a standing 1/4 in 12s. I'd be shocked if there are even two guys who have commented on this thread that own a car that would "blow its doors off". I own a 1989 Porsche 944, a 2005 modified Mini Cooper Supercharged, and a 1967 Mustang with a 289 V8. The 959 would thrash all three.

I bet a lot do. It'd be a tight race for anyone even with a new 5.0 mustang with a 959. My 6.0 v8 GTO runs around 4.7 to sixty and 11.8-12.2 in the quarter. I bet a lot of guys on here have faster stuff.

That thing probably handles just as good as any modern purpose built track car and with the Ford V8 he has under the bonnet it is way more reliable than the original.

I think he has a different front end and way different suspension set up to cure the "mediocre handling" you speak about! The Countach is one the most beautiful and legendary Lambo ever made! Why have trailer queen aka classic ferrari or porsche 959?? The Countach is where the Super Car originated!

A complete Tubular frame/chassis doesn't look that it can handle anything above 20hp? Go look at pictures of the Corvette Lemans cars. They are built out of tubular frame/chassis too. I bet you're right though, they probably can't handle anything above 20hp either.
